ok first i leveled this thing up except for the defense upgrades with ascendent energy. I mainly use sun singer and i mainly collect discipline/intelligence and i have the 2 grenade mod on seems like i get my grenades pretty darn often because by the time i have 1 and im not using it another is already cooling down so by the time i do use it the other one has had some cooling down already. Now, getting this piece from the exotic engram from xur i was like sweet sounds like i can use my grenades more often in voidwalker class. seemed like a grenade heavy build. untill i got to leveling it up and.... im not impressed my Regular legendary helm is 50ish int 50ish dis and has a melee speed boost which compliments my gloves which cool down my grenade per melee hit. I throw on the skull helm and notice its ALL int. which takes away from my grenade cool down so maybe the energy drain boost will make up for that! NOPE its barely noticeable. so what am i doing wrong here? i have the extended energy drain and all grenades triggering energy drain mods on and still the sunsinger class out-cools down the voidwalker. sure i get a int boost for my super but. the dps just isnt the same.
in the end. honestly this helmet seems like it would benifit more if it was ALL dis instead of int. because the better energy drain effect is not worth the dis loss and lack of a faster melee to grenade cool down. so two things might fix it all discipline or even greater energy drain boost.
anyone else have a go with this sweet looking helm? any thoughts?

I'm just like you, I got this helm this week from Xur. I leveled it up to get the bonus effect but I still don't really understand what it does. I speced just like you but I can't see the helms effect working. I just don't understand voidwalker and the energy drain effect, I alway play sunsinger and this helm just doesn't seem good enough to make me want to switch.

This was the first exotic piece of armor I found and despite my dislike of its appearance it is still a powerful and synergistic piece for a Voidwalker. Simply put, if you are playing a Voidwalker then it is possibly the best piece of exotic armor in the game. While other Warlock exotics enhance specific variants of a single ability (Axion Bolt on Voidfang Vestments or Solar Grenade on Sunbreaker Gauntlets) the Ahamkara skull has synergy with all aspects of all three pillars of your subclass: every variant of your grenades, all forms of your super move, your enhanced melee, etc. It also improves super meter gain both directly through INT and indirectly through Quintessence Transfer. For a Sunsinger it is naturally going to be less effective. In theorycrafting Sunsingers actually derive comparatively less value from INT than Voidwalkers do, only because Voidwalkers have incentive to use their super more immediately and more often, whereas the selected perks to Radiance (allied cooldowns, reduce damage, or self revive) encourage you to hold onto your super until a key moment. Ultimately while certain pieces of legendary armor may synergize better with a desired build, it is only through exotics and raid gear that you will reach level 30. Most likely you may find another exotic armor piece more suited to your build (Apotheosis Veil is a good all around choice) before you reach that level, but if you are going for Voidwalker even temporarily then this helm is pure gold.

so i did some research today and got some numbers, check it. Hood of no tomorrow: Mods, increased melee attack speed, more super energy from grenade kills -80-ish% int 80-ish% dis with the rest of my gear -31 sec cool down on grenade with no energy drain -25-26 sec cool down on grenade WITH energy drain Skull of dire ahamkara: Mods, increased grenade throw, more super energy from grenade kills, armor during nova bomb and greater energy drain effect. -100% int 65-ish% dis with the rest of my gear -35 sec cool down grenade no energy drain -30 sec cool down grenade WITH energy drain Should i just accept that my regular legendary is better than an exotic? is it just a gimmick? hmm maybe its for super energy and not grenades since its all intell... well... no because my other helm also has "more super energy per grenade kill" and it makes grenades cool down faster i can melee some one twice and retreat safely or win melee battles in PVP. sticky grenade makes for guaranteed kills giving me no reason to go back to voidwalker.
