So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

Edit3:
To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.
Edit6:
A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

Same post but on Bungie.net:

It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

People are missing the point what is being alleged here is that Bungie built a complete game then cut it into pieces to sell as dlc, that can't be right or fair to the consumer.how would you feel to go into your favorite restaurant, order a steak and it comes back the size of your child's palm, you'd probably be like ok I paid for a steak so that's just how it is, but let's say you found out that the restaurant had some dirty practices in which you out by disgruntled staff or plain old snooping around that the chef would cut 3/4 of the steak and serve 1/4 to you, how would that make you feel? Knowing by right the entire steak is yours but in order to get more steak you have to pay premium price
-
Wow hearing all this new content coming out. I am going to buy it!
-
Updated OP with another Edit regarding the Terminus It's been in the game for quite some time.
-
As a consumer, I really don't give a shit. Unlike you, I don't get butthurt when'll favorite game company cuts content from the game in order to make the game come out in time, because at least they weren't racing against the clock like in halo 2 (But you're new here, so you wouldn't know about that.)
-
I love hearing all the Bungie fanboys trying to defend the cut content arguement...... Seriously? All the evidence is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. If they "Cut" parts of the game because these areas weren't finished in time for release, then bungie just needs to admit that. They'd save alot of facem at least with me. I can accept a company saying we just didn't have time to get it the way we wanted it before release, I cannot except a company denying this content already is on the disc and then trying to sell it back to us.... Even the DLC looks like doo doo... I mean 4 missions, 2 strikes.... and 1 raid?...... yay. FFS i don't even need new missions. Just give me some more areas to explore. Don't tell me I can go anywhere I want to then hit me with a kill wall. In all honesty if they were smart about hiding the DLC content on the disc they could have just put some kill walls up behind the locked areas and nooone would have enough time to realise they're getting fisted!!!! I enjoy playing this game but only because Borderlands and some other new ones aren't out yet. Does anyone else feel like Destiny is just a gap filler until another game comes out?
-
Idk about you, but I would rather not have Destiny DLC taking up literally my entire hard drive. I'm fine with the smaller download and content already on disc. It's on there to reduce download size.
-
Cause you know, it's not like they designed the whole overworld or anything. Or there's definitely not glitches or holes.
-
Ferguson PD totally used unnecessary violence. We demand justice! This is a thread for jumping to conclusions, right?
-
The posts made by Q Lynx and Anedime should be stickied somewhere and referenced before anyone makes yet another tedious thread. They are correct.
-
Dude you spammed so much crap in here there's no "proof" to be found. When you post something like this put links to your sources and only summarize your info.
-
Someone will datamine the patch file and surely show proof one way or the other... if it is a few lines of code unlocking something, then I have to agree that is some serious capcom level bullshit.... but if there are map and object resources and cutscenes and stuff then i am a little more understanding, but still a bit miffed over the horrid story presentation
-
They released a statement saying its true but a large amount of the content isnt finished yet we still 2 months for this dlc and maybe bungie can redeem themselves with this content
-
Edited by souf92xx: 10/7/2014 5:53:31 PMAccording to the contract between activision and bugie, there will be 2 dlc after each destiny and after those dlc they will release huge addonn the "comet" so at the end of the contract bungie have to made 4 destiny , 8 minor dlc and 4 comet´s
-
That bug only appeared after a patch so it probably isn't actually on disc...

And there were no enemies to fight. In other words, there was no game content. It's an empty shell. The 2015 mission doesn't already exist in the game, the empty location for the mission is there, awaiting DLC to put mission content there.

Updated OP with another finished area that will be DLC.
-
Placeholders =/= disc locked content. Bungie themselves have talked about going to other planets and shit with the dlc. This is pure speculation. Bungie knew ahead of time they were doing DLC for the game so put placeholders in the game to downsize the dlc. If however it comes out and ends up being only this content we see here. THEN it's time to bitch.
-
having a spot on the map doesn't mean finished content. Show me the video when someone actually plays it.

Give me 100% proof that this is 100% playable or that Bungie is 100% ready to release it now; otherwise get over it.
-
Umm you guys are aware those could be placeholders for when the content is released. To claim this is proof just shows pure desperation.

Edited by Toomstone: 9/28/2014 10:21:01 PMI'm always surprised how precious some people can be when it comes to games. So you see an emblem on a map and immediately assume there is content that was shipped on the disc and then hidden behind a paywall? You guys do know that when you make a game it's a long and involved process called "iteration" ... It's not uncommon for entire portions of a game to be basically done and in a playable form but the studio is not happy enough to actually ship the content for whatever reason. Maybe the UI needs improvements, maybe there's portions of an encounter that the design team aren't happy with, maybe the loot doesn't yet exist? Maybe it needs to be Quality Assured first by testers and the buys ironed out, that process alone takes months! Maybe it needs certification from Sony/Microsoft, that process too can take months! In order to have DLC out as early as three months from the release of the game you would need to have started working on that content many months before release. You could easily have created all the art assets and even populated the areas with placeholder enemies (which is what you probably see when you glitch into the content). That doesn't equal content that's been removed and hidden behind a paywall. To also address the "9.5mb" patch "proof", it means nothing. It could just be the changes from testing, certification, bug fixes or missing assets that Bungie were waiting on, I mean why not ship what you've already done on the disc to save people having to download more content? That's smart if you ask me! Destiny also downloads it's own patches, so this could just be the game executable being patched to link to the full download of the DLC, so it's nowhere near proof! If we as gamers want top quality content then studio's are going to have to plan and develop many months if not years before delivering the content. To put your head in the sand and believe that content was removed from the game is to be not just ignorant, but perpetually angry at reality. This endless obsession with "conspiracy" against gamers is ridiculous, the alternative is you just don't get DLC content at all, and no that doesn't mean it would be included in the original game, because it wouldn't be.
-
Idk why people get so butthurt about the fact the disk shows a map, and what missions are involved in the DLC/expansions. That does honestly nothing to us, nor could it be playable. It's something Destiny could patch in small things per update to better prepare, something squareenix does with Final Fantasy, Blizzard does with WoW, and everyone online game developer does to all their titles.
