So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

Edit3:
To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.
Edit6:
A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

Same post but on Bungie.net:
http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/70822032/0/0
It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

The Xbox Expansion Pass link is up again:

9.5MB
I have a picture too:

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
Edit10:
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

Edited by Zero the Remnant: 9/29/2014 5:00:21 PMIts funny. I kept telling folks about this and no one believed me. This is why I am a strong supporter of Subscription plans. Why? Because what a lot of companies do is tell folks its Free to Play because so many non-gamers. (Folks who only purchase a yearly FPS/Sports game but never play anything else, read up on gaming, or generally follow gaming) See subscriptions as rip offs. Edit: [We are all gamers. But some of us have more experience with the industry & gaming as a whole. There was no inoffensive way to list those whom do not game frequently/game into multiple genres. Thus some folks only know 25% if the spectrum while others know 50%-100%] Where subscriptions actually pay for server maintenance, and new content. So most free to play games work like this: 1. Sell you the Game. 2. Place a Paywall on Content 3. Release that content on a monthly basis requiring the player to purchase that content to keep advancing. While a subscription service game works like this: 1. Sell you the game 2. Annouce uocoming content/changes. 3. Release monthly patches of new content, fixes, etc free of charge. 4. Annouce the yearly or bi-yearly Expansion. Note: Subscription game expansions are an entirely new disc of content that sometimes modifies an existing bit of content on the current old disc. So in truth...you are paying a monthly fee either way. Either through a subscription or higher in price DLC. I dislike it but it cannot be helped. Only poor sales combats it. Ask Capcom. Poor sales of SF4 with disc locked content made then change their tune real quick. And whike Activision may be behind this hidden content. Bungie agreed to it. Both parties are at fault.
-
Considering this is a ridiculous and long winded post I'm going to give you a ridiculous and short shunt of a reply. I bought the digital copy so in theory I don't own anything physically to get ripped off on.
-
I'm not sure why you need proof? It's not a secret the game industry withholds content for DLC's and expansions. How did so many people not already know? It's pretty common sense.
-
It's activision.. How wouldn't you already expect this kind of thing.
-
Why does it seem like no one is considering the possibility that the 6 or 9MB download from xblive or psstore won't just allow the game to download a much bigger content file in game? For example none of the content patches thus far have been done through the respective console stores but are done in game.
-
blame the publisher
-
You do realize that the cut content is usually on the part of the publisher right? Bunjie more than likely had very little to do with this.
-
Ok so JUST 1 question to all you that are complaining..... but are you going to stop playing the game though?
-
As for the size of the DLC being "9.5 MB", the game patches itself within the game. Have you not noticed that? In regard to all other issues, no comment.
-
I'd rather buy content every so many months instead of paying a monthly fee to keep their servers running. Coming from multiple PC mmorpgs it feels like a majority of console players feel entitled to get everything for free. WoW players have been playing the same endgame content for over a year now and they are being forced to pay $15 if they want to play any part of their game. You don't have to pay for the expansion and can still take full advantage of what was release on he disc.
-
I completely agree with you!
-
Called future content for a reason. Sit tight little boy.
-
Bungie said that this game will keep developing over the next decade. I believe that you made all of this up and just want so much attention.
-
Dayum
-
This is what I'm thinking happened if all this content was finished: Bungie: Hell yeah look at all this great content we have for people on launch day! Activision: woooohoho hold on a second guys split it all up into 2 DLCs and we can charge them an extra 40 bucks for one games content. We have been doing it with the games we publish for years. Bungie: but that's wrong! Activision: Well then probably shouldn't of signed that contract with us saying we get to decided on how to sell the game. Bungie: Wha......What?!?!? :'( But we didn't know! Activision: Mwahahaha to late! *sucks out bungie's soul* Bungie: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *dies*
-
Your disney land section is quite retarded as you do have to pay extra at places like six flags. I've never been to DL but 6F and Busch gardens charge you per ride and you can buy a bracelet to save money.
-
Just boycott the DLC
-
Hope those who hate the current way the game industry goes learned something. Never ever buy a game on release day again and wait for reviews. Also when you have bought a game and payed with a creditcard you can get your money back without to much trouble. Contact your creditcard company and explain the game isnt the same as being advertised.
-
I don't blame bungie for that, it's an extremely popular marketing strategy that works. The fact most of us bought the game is proof alone. Heck I'll even go as far as to say I'm not mad, I honestly don't care. I bought the limited edtion and it was well worth the extra 40 bucks. So many people have asked how I got my ghost and whatever, the goodies inside are awesome, and hey I get the DLC's anyway. In my mind that alone is worth it. We shouldn't be mad at the developer, this is most likely an activision thing. They tell bungie to do certain things, and considering they handle the promotion, I wouldn't be surpried they were behind this...
-
so has anyone heard from bungie yet
-
you ppl that are pissed off with bungie for the way they are handeling the dlc on the disk if its on the disk like ppl claim it to be ask your self this what if they released everypart of the game they have created now when you first bought it and you beat the story line in 2 damn week because you play non stop and then there is nothing left but weekly stuff and crusibal left to play and then you have to wait 9 months to a year for more dlc because they gave you everything off the bat and took them twice as long to make new parts of the game wouldent that piss you off more me i would reather them hold dlc and release it every 2 to 3 months rather than give it all at once knowing that we can compleat the dlc in no time im shur as fast as i beat the game up untill now vs. giving it to us all at once beating it in two weeks and have to wait like 9 months to a year for the new suff to drop now i dont know about yall but i can get board with waiting a year alot faster than a few damn months CHILL THE HELL OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I love destiny and don't really care about this but I hope there are new areas in the DLC's. $20 isn't cheap for DLC.
-
Who knew bungie would be part of the ship spearheading the death of gaming as we know it.
-
personally I can't say for sure whether the stuff that is revealed in the video are on disc or just placeholders (i'd bet on the latter honestly) but there is other evidence that the story and various cutscenes were cut or changed drastically a year before release. The original story actually explained like, what the traveler and the darkness were.
-
These guys should work for the Canadian Government lol they tax our pay cheques and then tax everything we buy with that pay cheque. Double dipping at its finest.
