So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125
Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids.
I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.
Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC.
So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass.
In my opinion that is a very cheap move.
Opinions/Further discussions?
Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth.
Edit:
Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)

Edit3:
To the people defending this.
How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass.
This content should/already is in the game but is locked.
Edit4:
People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that.
Thing is.
Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game.
These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass)
These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC.
The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC".
Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead.
Edit5:
Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is.
Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events?
Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny.
Edit6:
A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year:

Same post but on Bungie.net:

It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely.

It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key".
They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol
Plenty of people have already been in them.
Edit9:
Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them.
We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing.
Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste.
But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11:
Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U
As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya.
Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission.
I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness.
Edit12:
So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time.
This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June.
http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png
Would you look at that?
http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s
So this area have been in there since atleast E3...
Edit13:
Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found:
http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/
http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c
Now a strike in the Black Garden area.
As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area.
Edit14:
Another DLC area found by Corbman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw
This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC.
Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies.
Edit15:
Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman.
http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk
This is the area for the raid on the moon.
Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added.
I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself.
I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

I'm really enjoying Destiny and for now this it not really bothering me, it's exciting to no that this content is coming and I really don't mind paying for this for now. But. What I would like to believe though is that these two expansions are not the only ones we are going to get. I'm hoping that these are finished and are waiting for the date to be unlocked but that Bungie are working on further DLC back at studio. If this is it and it was cut content and there just sitting on there arses then I will be pissed.
-
I love these arguments having a healthy debate on any issue means that even though we all play video games (witch can sometimes make us hard to understand and even harder to live with) we still have the ability to communicate sure sometimes its short and sweet but its still relevant and most points are made without abuse depending on when the school kids and haters arrive I think the game need new content now but only because so many of you got so good so quickly, I'd love free content but I live in the real world were everything costs money and profits are key to survival, my hope is that the new levels and play areas are well thought out and if I was in bungies employ id get all the clever gamers out there to try and break it before its released so that there wont be loads of complaints.
-
This is common practice among developers. It's not some new thing Bungie or other companies have just begun doing. It's not a cash grab scheme modern gamers are quick to cry about. No, they add these things to game code for completely different reasons. The key reason being; testing and compatibility. Tell me one game that hasn't been "data mined" to find future dlc in the games file. You probably can't, and if you can, it's probably because the game simply never had any dlc planned. Krieg and Gage were in Borderlands 2 game files from the beginning, and were there for compatibility and internal testing. That's why you saw Krieg class items drop when they partially unlocked him a few weeks earlier. Same with Gage. Willing to bet Shadows of Mordor, the game everyone on these forums are bragging about leaving Destiny for, will also have locked content on disc. In fact, I guarantee it will.

Can't tell if OP is a colossally uneducated idiot, or trolling. Either way, it's clear he knows absolutely nothing about game design.
-
-
What's your point? I'm not following...
-
I don't know why people are calling these place holders. Watch the video for the ketch mission, the doors work! Everything is already finished! All they need to do is throw in enemies which are minuscule mission files. Now if these areas were placeholders, the environment wouldn't be finished, objects would glitch, etc. The terminus was shown at the last E3, come on now if that isn't enough proof I don't know what is. If you can already get to these areas in game then they have been there since day one. God I'm not even going to continue because factual evidence isn't enough for some people. Keep playing your delusional game. /thread
-
I'd rather them have the game and dlc content done so they can focus on patch content like the iron banner. They launched those events pretty smoothly and it might have been a different story if they were creating dlc. Just an opinion so don't reply your counter narrow CoD minded arguments.
-
Truth is I do not like what they are doing. Truth is that the game needs to make money. Truth no one like any other methods. The question is would you rather a subscription or micro transaction?
-
If you think this is a big deal, you haven't played video games long enough to realize just how derp you truly are. Sooner or later most of you will remove your head from various places on your body and look back at things like this and realize "Damn a was a dumb turd"
-
Edited by EvilKungFu: 10/13/2014 1:31:21 PMFirst off there is a chance that these are only place holders and the other areas still need to be finished, or maybe there is content being timed so we don't finish everything planned before dlc #1 drops. This information has NOT been data mined yet like it has on other games with disc locked dlc. Speaking of lets say if bungie was forced into disc locked dlc, do you not play other games? Activision does this in other games, not to mention how other publishers and some developers do this too. So quit acting like destiny is going above and beyond in screwing people when this has been going on for many years. Let me add that I'm referring to other areas and not only the dark below.
-
Bungie is a bunch of whores that suck dicks. Fu bungie
-
Look we all know whats going on..the fact that people have to defend the whole idea proves something ain't right.
-
The Evidence is Overwhelming at this point and Bungie hasn't stated barely shit on any of it. Which seems pretty suspicious to me, but just imagine all the places someone hasn't discovered yet...
-
So didn't read what you posted only saw the hive raid mission!!
-
No one would really care that a most of the dlc is already on the disc if Destiny had a satisfying content.
-
Updated OP with a 2015 DLC area. Really? 2015 DLC is already on the disc?
-
Updated OP with yet another DLC area on disc. This time a strike within the Black Garden area.
-
And since I bought the LE with (gasp) an expansion pass inside...do I care that your mommy told you no? Of course I don't.
-
You did not buy anything. You leased the ability to use Bungie's services. You paid $60 for use of their software. They reserve the right to control their software and content.
-
No one cares about this its old news
-
This is my last gen of gaming. You fools can enjoy paying for mediocrity like its pre nes era all over again.
-
You obviously don't know much about coding. A 6.9Mb data file can contain a lot of functionality etc. Now to other points, DLC on the disk we bought. Well that's not new is it? That's been happening for a few years now, but it's not necessarily the whole DLC. When designing any game or program, you're not just designing version 1 you're also putting together future features, game play and story etc. For Destiny, DLC and Destiny 2 and 3 falls in to that category. - Is any art work need for the DLC done? I'd say yes and that's on the disk. - As for the mission place holders, do they know what missions there will be? Of course, that was part of the design phase, so they would be on disk. - Any voice work for story, sure that would probably be on disk as well. Because of the design phase of programming, it enables developers to put much of the content needed for DLC on the disk. Surely it's much better to download the final nuts and bolts of the DLC than something like a 200mb file of stuff that was ready. As a software developer I'm constantly writing new features that are in the release build of the product, but not accessible until other things are finished. It much easier and logical to put what you can in the major release and then do the minor releases after than it is to do a multitude of major releases.
-
If all developers start to follow this ridiculous trend, I might just stop playing games altogether. It's not like I'd be missing out on much, anyway. The most recent games have only been disappointments, the community that plays these games are vile and unpleasant, and the developers are unresponsive and seemingly don't care. I'm not upset at Bungie anymore, because I've realized that this ordeal isn't really their fault. I blame the entire videogame industry. Gaming isn't about just picking up a controller and having fun, like it once was; it's about dealing with immature assholes, elitist pricks, and wondering why I let myself get fooled by shiny trailers and flashy reviews. I'm just sad that such a valuable hobby that I've had for years has been almost completely ruined. I miss the old days.
-
You guys are such -blam!-ing whiners.

People are missing the point what is being alleged here is that Bungie built a complete game then cut it into pieces to sell as dlc, that can't be right or fair to the consumer.how would you feel to go into your favorite restaurant, order a steak and it comes back the size of your child's palm, you'd probably be like ok I paid for a steak so that's just how it is, but let's say you found out that the restaurant had some dirty practices in which you out by disgruntled staff or plain old snooping around that the chef would cut 3/4 of the steak and serve 1/4 to you, how would that make you feel? Knowing by right the entire steak is yours but in order to get more steak you have to pay premium price
