This is partly a re-post because the original was instantly buried by people whining about nerfing the loot cave and queen's wrath.
"I enjoyed doing a few of the Queen's Wrath missions, but there is a problem with the whole event. You guys made this event a "progression reward" event. What I mean is that the reward for it is something that pushes your character forward - in this case it's obtaining legendary gear. The problem with this type of event is that it leaves out players who have already obtained legendary tier equipment.
My suggestion is that future events follow a structure similar to MMO's where the rewards are flair and effect items. I'm not talking about shaders (though a few for each event is nice). Instead it would be nice to be able to obtain alternate skins for Legendary+ weapons. Another example would be reusable inventory items on a 24hr cooldown that give primary weapons colored bullet trails for an hour. Perhaps even a high tier one could be "rainbow" where each bullet fired has a different color tracer than the last. Another great one would be reticle color mods for weapons (provide additional flair and added visibility for targeting). These types of rewards are fun for players at ALL levels in the game.
Another idea I had is the ability to select Random Strike Random Skulls (RSRS). In this match type a fireteam could select a desired level and number of skulls, then the game would randomly select a strike and and individual skulls. Rewards would be in tiers based on number of skulls selected. The 3 skull tier would be 2 random rewards from a pool of: 1 ascendant material, 1 strange coin, 1 legendary engram. 5 skull tier is 2 random from pool of: 2 ascendant material, 2 strange coin, 2 legendary engram, 1 exotic engram. Etc. There could be a cap on number of times this playlist could be played a week. This could add some randomness and more replay-ability to existing content while rewarding high-level play."
After the original post I also thought that adding voice packs (similar to firefight in Halo: ODST) would be fun. These could also be available as an event item for purchase or as rare drops from event content. I would personally love it if my guardian spouted off about popping skulls (dreg or guardian). Another idea is unique taunts to override our stock d-pad gestures.
