DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A NETWORK ENGINEER. YMMV
I was constantly getting disconnected from XBL and/or being returned to orbit. I wasn't having any issues with my computer, so I figured it was probably my router settings. I'm using one of those godawful TC8305C all-in-ones. I've done the following:
In my router, first thing I did was a hard reset and then ran the configuration wizard to change security settings and all the regular mundane stuff so that the WiFi isn't broadcasting "DEFAULT" to the entire world. Yeah, I know, it's a major pain, but after trying all the stuff you see on the web, opening various ports and fiddling with settings, sometimes a clean slate is best.
Next, I changed the DHCP range (Connection -> Local IP Network) so that it started at x.x.x.10. This gave me a small handful of static addresses that I could choose from for my 360.
Next, on the UPnP page (Advanced -> Device Discovery), I enabled UPnP and Zero Discovery.
That's it for the router. I didn't mess with port forwarding at all.
On the 360, I went into Network Settings and manually assigned the address x.x.x.5, which is outside my router's DHCP range, so I didn't have to worry about other devices interfering.
After all this was finished, I powered everything down and grabbed a cup of coffee (about three minutes). Then I powered up the router, waited a minute after it was connected to the Internet, and powered up the 360.
At that point, I played for five hours and then went to bed. No issues. My computer and a small handful of mobile devices were connected simultaneously (one of the tips from somewhere online is "disconnect everything but the Xbox").
Hope this helps someone.
