The travelers last action halted the advancing forces of the Darkness but, put it into hibernation for repair and subsequently generated the ghosts as a way to create protectors to defend the traveler until it can recover (that is my view of events and my working theory of what the story could be). My take away from the events of the initial game release (although I only think there is enough to call it a story concept at this point) is that we earned a bit of a reprieve by taking out the Darkness' "Generals" that were attacking earth but, survived the travelers last stand Given that, I am not particularly interested in seeing more planets any time soon. We have 3 whole planets that we have barely scraped and a moon. I want to see an expansion of the story that shows us making progress in the galaxy we are in. I would like to see us making forts in reclaimed cities of Earth, Mars, the moon and Venus. Population wise there probably are not enough people to start new settlements but, Guardian outposts should be a reasonable expectation since they are reanimated dead. This would also allow more chances to interact with the Awoken and Exo as factions that are also claiming territories in the weakened enemy territories. The contextual story purpose could be to salvage and reclaim more material and tech from the Golden Age. This would also offer an opportunity to create some truly open world zones that would be expansive with lots of territory to cover and explore, the "wilds" if you will. Coincidentally these two story elements would allow for something I think is regrettably lacking which is vehicle combat. I want to have more variation in the bikes with both style and armaments. These vast open zones would be a great place for content that favors vehicle combat similar to the Mars fight where you to take on a tank and have missile bikes. The second element would be ship based combat, they have guns and rockets already mind as well be functional. Even if its only in story mission context I would love to see space or planet side missions/strikes/raids that have ship combat. Given that the context here is that we are pushing back the Darkness' forces we would of course have to defend these new areas from attack. Both from the ground and air, thus forts/spaceports. Make them weekly events or something, different faction each week with a big space battle. Even a unique raid after the public event completes, the invading fleet is downed and the flag ship engine is disabled. Could be a time limited raid to go into the flag ship to take it out or capture it maybe. Only after some real progress has been made in this fashion could I see it making sense to venture into the farther reaches of even just our solar system let alone galaxy. On a non-story related note, I would very much like to have the ability to color my character in a custom fashion. Ideally I would love to have a style system similar to DCUO but, this is not really necessary. I would just like to be able to see more customization in the look and color to make my character my own. How can I call it my character if it looks like everyone else's. Also I was disappoint in the weapon upgrading system, it was probably just how I interpreted the information when I read it but, I was thinking we were going to be upgrading components of the weapons and armor so that if we found a weapon/armor style we liked we could keep using it and swap out parts. For weapons think triggers, handles, scopes, stock, barrels, compensator etc. and for armor plating, scales, utility pouches, padding etc. These pieces would allow us to customize our character by keeping a weapon or armor style but, allowing us to "pull" parts from other weapons we gets to replace the stats of the weapon we liked. This going back to my concern about character customization. I also think matchmaking needs to be on all strike/raids, it would of course be better to have a team you make up of people you know but, you should not be excluded if you can't. Will a pug be more difficult, probably but, if you as a gamer want to give that a try you should be able to. Also an open matchmaking option needs to be added when players drop from the strike/raid. Not auto so that if someone drops they can't get back in but an option to vote on it so it can be reopened right away if its a completely pug instance. If that is not possible then need to add a way to "flag" LFG and what your looking to run in the roster section maybe. Flagging would have your name added to this roster list sortable by level at least so people can manually invite people. Some proximity chat would be preferred too, If only in the tower. This is being written pre DLCs so I do not know if my concerns will be addressed by them or not.
