So Warlocks have the self resurrection which is a free wipe save, and the grenade refreshing super that synergizes well with a titan bubble.
Titan's have the bubble, which is arguably the most useful super of all in a boss fight.
Hunters get a super that amounts to a sniper clip, or bladedancing which will just get you killed in a boss fight. Oh, and some throwing knives.
Why would anyone bring a hunter to a raid?
EDIT: so yes, we've established Bladedancer is useful, I'm leveling it up now (I didn't play it before). Ya'll can't stop posting the exact same thing instead of actually reading the comments from others in the thread.
I'm still not convinced the Gunslinger isn't useless, except maybe on the last fight in the raid, from what I've seen in streams.
Also, if it wasn't clear by my profile: I AM A HUNTER (GUNSLINGER). I was asking to potentially provoke discussion/shed light on class balance issues, not crap on players of the class. Stop getting butthurt, you don't work at Bungie and you didn't help design the class, criticism towards the class itself is not leveled at you.

Freinds with benifits

I have 3 warlocks and even I understand the crazy amounts of uses for a hunter, get educated
-
Today I started my Hunter. Once I got Bladedancer I thought I'd be OP enough to take down a Hollowed Knight who is 2 levels higher than myself. But no, I got slapped hard. However I do believe that the Invisibility with the good perks is very useful in strikes and Raids. But the Golden Gun is extremely useful as well, for it's power against bosses.

Gunslinger useless? You couldn't be more wrong. Golden gun rocks shit. Allow me to share some of the quotes from my raids based on Gunslinger and Bladedancer. Confluxes "Shit, two Minotaurs on the left...wait where'd they go?" Gunslinger - "Got em" "Shit, two Minotaurs on the left." Bladedancer - "Don't worry, I got...GUARDIAN DOWN." Atheon "We're on the left/right...wait where are the adds?" Gunslinger - "Ash" "We're on the left/right." Bladedancer - "I'll get the....GUARDIAN DOWN" Bladedancer - "I'm supposed to be invisi.....GUARDIAN DOWN" Bladedancer gets you killed, Gunslinger kills stuff, simple enough.
-
Golden gun is really useful killing oracles at atheon checkpoint in VOG hard, with the symbiote helm, you can take out the last four oracles and get to shooting atheon a lot faster. Mix that with a weapons of light bubble when you get back to centre and Atheon won't survive two teleports from a good team.

Edited by patr1ckcasey: 10/26/2014 3:17:57 PMSo, I play as a 29 Gunslinger Hunter. Now i'm not sure the specifics of this, however, do you know throwing knives 1 SHOT ORACLES. I'm in the midst of testing the specifics of this, my throwing knives are set to deal the solar damage. And thats why I believe golden gun also one shots the,m. Oracles (i think) are weak to solar. What i'm trying to test is to see if they are just weak to throwing knives in general, or if its only when they cause the flame damage overtime. if that is the case and they get one shotted by throwing knives in general, then holy hell, knife juggler will decimate all!!!! If throwing knives in general one shot oracles and you have on knife juggler, when you get teleported, essentially you can go in the portal and kill all the oracles one after the other without shooting a single shot from any gun!!!! I am hoping this is the case, that oracles are weak to knives in general, and not just weak to throwing knives when they make enemies take solar damage. If anyone could test this it would be awesome!!!! Heres to hoping i can knife juggle my way through the portals no problem at all, but even then, if it is only when the knives use the solar damage perk,it's still incredibly useful, you are killing oracles no problem with an atheons epilogue, or what ever auto rifle you are using, you run out of ammo, use a throwing knife....onto the next oracle :)

Oracles and most agile relic holder. Kill self faget.
-
IMO much easier to move around with a relic with a hunter l, we're just quicker I guess
-
I use gunslinger to help the relic holder defeat mobs, particularly the Minotaur. Without the Minotaur, you can eradicate all mins for the relic holder. Not that that it is really necessary, but does cut down on errors.
-
Gunslingers are oracle hunters, and with that helmet Xûr was selling you get 4 golden gun shots.
-
2 minutes should make the point itself, spend any more time watching and it's on you. killing oracles / clearing enemies
-
I am a hunter and whenever i have my super it gives the other person in there with me to help the relic holder. We one hit oracles. So 4 shots = 4 instant dead oracles.
-
there is a lot of small stuff they can do that adds up - on the normal raid bladedancers make great medics - stealth through gorgon's maze - on the oracles, your team can stay on the platform, but you need someone to jump down to initiate it. you can have a bladedancer hop down, then jump atop some of the pillars and use bladedancer to get back up to the platform (or you can have a warlock jump off and res) - for the first gatekeeper, you can stay outside the door (if your already in the room wait a few seconds and the door will open) and snipe the first gatekeeper from outside. then have a bladedancer stealth and run over to open the first portal. once the portal is up all the goblins/hobgoblins will despawn - stealth makes retrieving relics easy as you can simply run past all the adds inside the portal - golden gun one shots supplicants - golden gun one shots oracles
-
If you use Ice breaker or Praedyths Revenge with gunslingers trance on top of chain of woe to crit and reload during times vengeance with tripmines in between for high dps the super doesn't matter. The post is irrelevant. Learn how to use your class I think.
-
Because only the Bladedancer can single-handedly revive an entire team with next to no effort without dying for it. A smart one, at least. Moreover, any smart Bladedancer will use their Super on a boss when they know it'll either A: kill it or B: the Hunter can escape from the boss after blowing the load (which is easy for higher agility users). I, personally, prefer to use it on a group of trash mobs. A Gunslinger only has three shots, but those three shots hurt. Sorry we Hunters don't have invincibility frames for our Supers. A good number of us are good enough not to depend on it.
-
People seem to forget that 97% of this game is just shooting a gun.

Edited by Why_Should_l_Try: 9/18/2014 3:06:15 PMWE. HAVE. CAPES. !!!!!!
-
One thing I would like to point out about the gunslingers special is it does not do enough damage to make it useful on a boss(based on my experience). I have found it useful in PvP and taking down larges mobs with the explosion but on bosses I have found it useless. Why? Because I find a precision shot with a sniper does the same damage, now correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I have seen so far. Makes it somewhat useless in that sense, it should do extra damage to bosses to make it more viable, maybe doing double damage on bosses or something, just my thoughts.
-
Gunslinger is crap damage against final boss. Compared to a leveled sniper rifle. However the gunslinger super is great against oracles and or assisting the the relic holder take out the praetorian or one of the snipers if he has moved out of range of the relic holders attack so he doesn't get killed by the sniper still standing.
-
Because some Hunters kick ass, and can deal with all of the Adds?
-
Bladedancers are great for getting across the jumping platform puzzle.

Edited by derAstronom: 9/21/2014 6:04:17 AMI'd just like to tell you all a little story of a random L22 strike I just finished... I'd only just hit 22. Like, a tentative, nubbish 22. Queued up for the L22 strike playlist, and got paired with two L23s on the Dust Palace. We blaze through to the end no problem, kicking metric -blam!-tons of ass. The second we hit the endbattle with the 3 Flayers, one guy ditches out on us. Leaving only a Titan and myself, a Gunslinger, to take on all 3 Flayers and their swarms of Legionaries and Colossuses (Colossi?). Game over, or at least a long, hard battle festooned with many deaths and revives, right? NOPE. The Titan died two or three times, and I didn't at all, and we not only won, but won easily. And then we danced. The moral of this story? Hunters will -blam!- your shit all kinds of up, and make pretty damn good teammates.
-
I think its quiet helpfull and my team mates to, but i get your point with the super.
-
Man the bladedancer is completely useless in the raid. There is no situation where you would like to choose the bladedancer over the gunslinger.
-
Bladedancer hunters can be medics. Turning invisible to revive others when tons of enemies are nearby. And gunslingers can destroy ads and do tons of damage to a the on during times vengeance
-
Sunsingers and Voidwalkers are, statistically, the best subclasses for the Raid on Venus. The others aren't as useful.
