Yet my friend just got a purple helmet from his 3rd ever blue engram!

Nice! All I ever get is blues and greens. Got a purple arm peice so far and that's it. Been past lv 20 for several days. All my blues are weak or turn out green. I'll be hitting my rank 2 for dead orbit far before I get any more purple drops I imagine.
