I have been attempting to play the game. I purchased the disk as well as the expansion pack. When I start to play the game attempts to download updated content 5.51GB. However I get a caterpiller error every time. It varies as to how long it goes before it errors out. The highest was 60%. I have tested my ISP connection I have zero dropped packets and 3% jitter. I have a 20mb connection. Your website says this is your problem but others are playing. I have an open NAT connection. I have not had any problems with any other games that I play. Please help!

http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/74021550/0/0/1 This is how I solved my caterpillar error. I was using a Ubee ddw365 gateway which acts as router and modem. I set the gateway in bridge mode so that it would act as modem only. I connected a Netgear router to the gateway and viola. No more errors. I tired disabling the firewall on the Ubee altogether and that didn't seem to work. I tried just about everything before doing the bridge. Congrats on your solution.

I worked with my ISP (RCN). The engineer was able to put a sniffer on my external Firewall IP address. I was able to do the same on my private IP address port of the firewall. What we noticed was that all of the ports stated on Bungie's website were flowing during the download. However the age of my firewall (SONICWALL SOHO3) was not passing all of the "keep alive" packets being sent by Bungie or xbox live. It would drop these due to traffic. I replaced the firewall with a Linksys n7500 and made no changes for ports and it just started working. In short Destiney puts a huge load on the processor of the router/firewall. My old firewall could not keep up with it and that would cause my disconnects. I was able to finish the download and play the game for 8 hours straight without any errors. As a note I played the beta of the game on the old router without any issues. They changed something in a major way as far as communications/streaming goes since the Beta. Replacing the router solved my problem. I hope it helps others!

Well another business day has gone by and Bungie is still not responding. Not a good way to build customer satisfaction!

This is really sad, they hype a game and have errors. That is understandable, however on most errors there are no solutions. The CATERPILLER error states that it is the fault of Bungie performing maintenance on a server. Really? During a launch weekend. I doubt it. If there were other areas to explore to help resolve this issue I would, but not a peep from Bungie. Browsing the forums most people are playing the game and get kicked! That would be an improvement, I can't even download the content and get kicked. Yet with all of the problems being reported no official word from Bungie! Well except for the centipede error affecting the university players. Yeah that makes sense let's add more players to make the problem worse! Very frustrated right now!

Well I am still trying to figure out this CATERPILLER error without the help of Bungie. I have tried all of the suggestions on the forums and anything I can find on the WEB. I have plugged the cable modem directly into the XBOX and still the same result. That test essentially put my xbox on the Internet as a public device! So without any firewall or NAT involved I am still getting the caterpiller error. A little help/information from Bungie would really be nice! Maybe they don't care about one user?
