Hi, I've had the exact same problem. It has happened to me twice now (I am also on PS3). All my friends are in my PSN friends list and were a part of my fireteam. We all had fully functioning mics and no one was on mute. We checked in game settings as well as our PS3's settings with to avail. The first time was the same as described by Smokelaganj The second time there was just a friend and I in the fireteam. Both mic symbol were displayed however neither of us could hear the other. I have seen this issue popping up everywhere throughout multiple forums across multiple consoles but seems to be mostly on PS3. So far I havn't found a fix for this other than turning off or quitting game then hoping that the issue doesn't repeat itself.

there is no update for the situation at my end. all except for the fact that it is many friends now,not just one. but yet some i can still hear. pretty sure its a nat issue because no matter what i do (port forward, dmz, static ip, adjust firewall, wifi/hardline/direct to modem, reinstalling updates/factory reset...anything and everything that could be done) my internet plan is more then capable (15 mbps dl/1 mbps upl) updated firmware on both modem and router. yet my friend who is using the coffee shop's wifi next door, is able to hear everyone just fine. there was an incident though, during a crucible match i was able to hear a friend for like 30 seconds. that was the day of the last update (oct 28th) right before i updated.

My guess is this has something to do with parties. Make sure he is not in a party, even one by himself, and try again. The game prioritizes party chat. Can he hear you? If he can then I'm not sure what is wrong
