Not able to test for any possible variables but here's what a friend and I did to stumble upon this. I have the Digital Deluxe edition and my friend has the standard. We played on the opposite person's ps4 using our own psnIDs. As my friend logs into Tower, he sees the ghost shell, insiders circle emblem, and legendary ship available at the post-master. I'm not sure if these are the only conditions for the exploit to work but in case it isn't, here is what we did immediately before we logged on. I am attempting to use my friend's Vita to connect to my PS4 to play Destiny. It won't connect as it is tied to his psnID. We give up and try to log in on opposing psnIDs - his ps4/my account, -my ps4 with his vita/ his account. It is at this point we notice that his account (standard disc edition) has the limited edition digital rewards.
