One Wizards Review

Less than a week since the release of the only game I have ever been excited about and here come the "critics". Let me say this before my personal review; if you expect one game to meet every single desire you have then you are absolutely and unequivocally stupid. The creators of this game spent countless hours working their tails off trying to make something new and exciting for us all to enjoy and all I've heard is complaints. Are we all still playing it? Yes. Because it is a good game. To say the least. Pros: Amazing graphic design, the detail that went into the universe is just astounding. They kept the sci-fi geek in me satisfied with gorgeous space scenes, aliens of multiple kinds and worlds that were each unique and well put together. Fireteam setup is a great success. Grabbing my brother and a buddy and smashing aliens, riding the sparrows and generally wreaking havoc has been a blast. I couldn't have asked for a better setup for this game. The tedium of single player campaigns has finally ended and I am incredibly thankful to everyone at bungie for this! Weapons and armor diversity is also well done. While I haven't gotten my fingers on a legendary weapon or armor yet, so far the toys have lived up to my hopes. The scaling of damage to opponent strength was well done. Sometimes I mow through hordes and other times one guy takes me a mag and a half. Abilities, bravo. Each class is different. Strengths and weaknesses. The crying about hunters being overpowered in pvp, the Titan not being able to jump, etc etc... It's ridiculous. Titans are tanks. How high can a sumo wrestler jump? There's trade offs for each class. Otherwise there would be no point in having different classes. Variations in the missions has been fantastic. It's not the same repetitive thing over and over. Yes. We kill stuff. What did everyone think we were going to use all those gnarly guns for!? Storyline. Intentionally a tad vague. Very good idea. Details can be found and pieces start to add up, at least for those that care to look and read between the lines a bit. As a veteran I know that the guys on the ground don't get the big picture laid out in a story-mode. Half the time we wouldn't know why we were going somewhere. The realism, whether intentional or not, works out well for the game and the effect. Cons: Fireteams on strikes need to have comms. It's a highly tactical scenario and sometimes we get paired up with randoms. Make strikes a chat room inside the fireteam whether it's partied up or not. Network issues, I'm sure you've heard enough on the subject already. Final Boss. Under-powered enemy. Sepiks Prime killed me and my whole fireteam multiple times. As did Phogoth. The final boss didn't feel like a challenge. We didn't even know it was the last boss battle until after the cut scene post-battle. Of course that may be our fault, since none of us had enough sleep for several nights because we were playing destiny every second we possibly could. All in all, a very, very good game. It's apparent there was a lot of effort put into it and it is greatly appreciated. Now just don't let it turn into the wallet-sucking COD franchise and we'll be happy. Looking forward to many more expansions and future sequels which I'm sure will have even more tweaks and surprises for us all.
