Do you actually know what the elements tied to your weapons do? Well it let me tell you. It does bonus damage only to enemy shields of the same colour as the element eg: fire kills hive shield which is red. Where is this explained? Nowhere I learned it from some guy on youtube who has read every interview press release and analysed every trailer to figure it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTLosBMLt3Q (also don't tell me I should google this stuff, if I need to google stuff about your game to understand how it works that's bad game design.)
This is my biggest issue so far, nothing is explained in game. I didn't know there were fractions for the longest time until my friend pointed it out. I don't know anything about these fractions other then their names (New Monarchy, war cult? and another one) beyond a really generic flavour text. I don't know who the guardian it or what my ghost is or who I am. Sure I am a guardian but what the hell is that, am I immortal? can I die? Why do some guardians die but I don't, why am was in particular resurrected and subsequently conscripted for the fight against the darkness. Now I am only beaten the moon and the earth but these questions keep coming up constantly and are never addressed.
Even if these all these questions get answered later, which I doubt, why later rather then now when I am very very confused about your world and want to know more. Like it's not like my guardian is dumb enough to not be asking these questions so why doesn't my ghost just tell me?

Ill save you some disappointment, you never fogure out anything, I would bet money that you won't even realize you are on the last level when you get there.

I think we need a decent in game Grimoire, or a library in the Tower that fucntions like Mass Effect's Codex. I loved that thing.
-
Your right. At least mass effect made an attempt to explain biotics and power. It had a lot more detailed history on races and events
-
They have you right where they want you.
-
Why does everything have to be explained? I like figuring things out for myself. It seems that the only thing that would make people happy is of they put the disc in and all the achievements automatically unlocked and it was already beaten.
-
yeah ive figured out most of the stuff but it woulda helped alot if they had had some type of hints
-
I really hope Bungie are listen to you and other follow issues with dest.
-
Have you read the Grimore Cards? They explain a lot of the Destiny Lore and you unlock them. I felt this way too but I found the cards interesting :)
-
Did you ever hear or read the parts Bungie said one of the community elements of the game is finding things out and sharing it with one another? The whole idea behind not explaining everything is to allow you to feel like you've discovered something out for yourself. I'm gonna receive some backlash but look at Dark Souls. The game literally drops you off and says "go find the thing someplace I dunno", and off you go to discover the game. Destiny, although not the same at all, gives you a sense of "hey, I found that out" or as you've stated "hey I found this out, I should share it with people so we have an easier time".
-
You obviously didnt play minecraft or any oblivion which also doesnt eplain how to do most things you can do, even in skyrim. I agree but disagree, the story stuff i like they dont explain, leaves a mystery to find figure out eventually. Some game machanics not so much but are very easy to figure out on your own just by playing the game and actually PAY ATTENTION! I know god forbid if we make people do that these days and not hold there hands.
-
Agree fully. For instance after you get your ship and arrive at the watch tower and get your ship fixed etc it just assumes you know what you're doing. I had no clue I had to go back into orbit and to go back to the same area I left.
-
YES! I felt the same. I had to scan half the interne to find out what some mechanics are, how and why weapons upgrade, what spin metal etc if for etc, etc. Why is the world is there not a digital guide, like many other PS4 games, that explains mechanics resources weapons etc. Seems really strange, almost like Bungie was finishing this up at the last second and simply ran out of time. I get that some of this in the Grimoire, which is awful, loads slow, transitions slow have to search though a bunch of cards to find new etc. The Grimoire should be an inventory item that you can hang out and look/read in the tower. "Oooh an damage type Grimoire card! Let me go into orbit, (since I can't actually pause the game in an active area) take off my headset, go upstairs from the man cave, wake up my laptop, log in, open firefox, go to Bungie and the grimoire so I can see what its all about."

Edited by ScrubPython: 9/12/2014 4:17:53 PMsome things are and some things aren't explained. but many things aren't explained directly, thats the biggest issue.
This is my biggest issue so far, nothing is explained in game. I don't know who the guardian it or what my ghost is or who I am. Sure I am a guardian but what the hell is that, am I immortal? can I die? Now I am only beaten the moon and the earth but these questions keep coming up constantly and are never addressed.
A big part of the problem is the game is trying to relay the Idea that sooo much was lost in collapse that a lot of knowledge has been lost. the Guardians beyond being resurrected to fight for the traveller and wield his light as a weapon we just don't know. what the Ghosts are is specifically pointed out they don't know, They know only that it was the last act of the traveller to create them and have them resurrect the guardians. but then other things are explained IF you pay attention. are guardians Immortal?, can they die? no you're not immortal every time "fall" in battle you die. Luckily you have a ghost who can resurrect you as long as you have some of the travellers light within you, if this is drained.....well enjoy death. as for why you were chosen specifically once again goes back to the mysterious nature of the ghosts we just don't know much about them and it is the ghosts that chose the Guardians. you have to pay close attention to find this stuff out. as for factions, this comes down to bungies mistake, Grimoire cards should be in the game as they explain a lot.
