When you are using an xbox one party to chat and use your kinect to chat you get a loud ringing sound. I have linked a video to demonstrate the sound.
To recreate this it only happens when you are in a party on xbox live, while you are in-game in destiny, and are using the kinect to chat. Others may not have this issue but 2 out of the 4 people in my xbox live party on the xbox one have been able to recreate this issue

Same for me. Its unbelievably annoying. I have to turn my TV down a lot just to not hear it. And with that, low sound for me equals less enjoyable gameplay. So either way I'm annoyed

Edited by creggerj: 10/11/2014 8:01:51 PMGuys, Try this as a test.... GO TO SETTINGS GO TO DISPLAY SETTINGS GO OVER TO CHAT MIXER AND SELECT "DO NOTHING" THE ISSUE HAS DISAPPEARED. This problem is the same for me as everyone else. Lemme know if this helps #Bungie

Just as a headsup, we're in testing on a fix for this issue. Anyone seeing this in the meantime might use the workaround Anidien posted- http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/2btgg7/destiny_sound_glitch/ Stay tuned to the patch notes to see when the update on this drops!

having this same issue, which happened for me in the beta as well.
-
Ive experienced the same problem... i thought it was something wrong with my headset, but as everyone has stated here, it only happens after snapping the party app. For my case, if i unplug my headset, the high pitch sound starts... but when i plug the headset back in, it goes away. Basically i have to play with the headset plugged in all the time.

This really needs to be addressed immediately. The only thing that makes it stop for me is if I turn the mixer to "DO NOTHING", but then I can't hear anyone in party unless I play in snapped mode option on that reduces audio for the main game while snapped. Please fix this asap.
-
Probably reverb from your tv and someone's else's kinect reverbing back to you. It slowly gets louder right?
-
I have the same issue and I dont even own a kinect for my xbox one!
-
I have the same problem. I get a high pitch noise when using the kinect to chat. I never use my headset but the noise goes when you plug them in.
-
Thats exactly the problem I have, it has something to do with destiny, party app and kinect (for some not). I hope they fix it fast, had this buzzing sound from day one...
-
I'm not sure if this works, but I came across this earlier this week http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/2btgg7/destiny_sound_glitch/ Essentially it's a mixer setting for the kinect.
-
I found if you go to the dashboard and quit the game from there and restart it, the sound is fixed. But i am not sure what triggers it to happen. seems random, it started for me right after leaving the level 24 strike mission. Every time it happens i just dashboard, press menu and quit game. and restart.
-
I've experienced this as well, it's not that big of an issue because we're actually able to fix it ourselves, but this definitely needs a fix.
-
Headphones on through my TV, and in a party causes this for me also. Basically when people go to sleep I have a Audio Out - Headphone connection, but do like to stay in partys. This on Destiny very often causes the mentioned buzzing. However out of a party and on the dashboard, its fine. So it seems to be a gamr based issue related to partys, certain sounds on the game enhance it such as footsteps.
-
Gah!! Thank you for this thread!!! That sound was driving me NUTS!!
-
Same problem here. If I join the party first, unsnap it, and then load Destiny it will go alright. The moment I snap Party, Settings or whatever, it goes beeping and I have to restart my console. I really hope they fix it soon, I'm guessing alot of ppl have spend alot of money on trying to fix this thinking it's their hardware, I've been googling this issue for the last week and only found this post now, I was ready to buy another headset.
-
When your in the party just load up another game you have on your hard drive and just close and load destiny back up it should stop it worked for me
-
Has bungie made any comments on this?
-
I had the same problem, when disconnecting my headset, while still in a party. I do not have Kinect chat enabled either.
-
i have had this problem with a headset after i have swapped batteries in my controller. Then only way to get it to stop was to leave the party chat and rejoin.
-
I am also encountering this.
-
I'm experiencing the same issue and have seen this issue reproduced in other forums as well. It may be a difficult fix, Bungie, but I'm sure it can't be that bad. I've isolated it to occur in party chat, specifically picks up in combat when EQ levels spike. Please fix this, I can't wear my headset for extended periods of time.
-
I was having the same problem. I couldn't isolate what was causing it but I had been in a party chat with someone earlier and simply closing the chat (even without them in it) fixed the sound immediately.
-
Having the same problem too. Through my kinect and my headset. Thought it was my headset :( Sounds giving me such a headache have to stop playing :/
-
I have the same problem. I think i've done enough to isolate the issue. HDMI stereo uncompressed sound. Reproduced. Optical stereo uncompressed sound. Reproduced. Kinekt plugged in / unplugged. Reproduced. Voice setting to blended / headset / speakers. Reproduced. Please fix this, the high pitched noise gives me a headache, clips all other audio & makes fireteam play completely unusable. My receiver wont support any of the surround / bitstream profiles. The only thing that starts and stops this issue is either join/create party or leave party. The audio starts clipping and produces high pitch noise when in an empty party and stops when leaving that party.

Glad I'm not the only one thought I was losing it. I even got the same problem through the headset. Please help @bungie
