We already know that Destiny will have 4 different types of damage: Kinetic (which is the basic one), Solar, Arc and Void.
Also, everyone who played the beta should have noticed that there was a 3rd empty subclass slot.
Due to the facts that
The Warlocks Voidwalker is based on Void damage
The Warlocks Sunsinger is based on Solar damage
The Hunters Gunslinger is based on Solar damage
The Hunters Bladedancer is based on Arc damage
The Titans Striker is based on Arc damage
The Titans Defender is based on Void damage
I assume that the Warlocks/Hunters/Titans 3rd subclass will be based on Arc/Void/Solar damage so regardless of what class you have chosen you can deal any damage by selecting the particular subclass.
Do you agree?

I don't know I'd love to see a third. Im personally a hunter player and have always loved both thier classes, gunslinger was tons of fun in the beta. I mean each class has only the two damage types so I would love to speculate that with either the expansions (or I would find it to be much fairer for fans and current players to initiate a release of a third class as a free patch) or an update they'd give us a new gameplay for each gurdian. The hunter already has some specific damage dealing class so I would love to see their void specific class to be the hunters "support" class. They did say we had "6" classes to master first. But never said no directly to a third sub-class for our gurdians to experiment with in future!

I did originally think along the same lines but thanks to a datto does destiny video i think the third subclass slot is for when you lock-in a subclass because you get a copy of that subclass to go through a second time that may have changed a bit by now but it would be awesome if you were right
