I think they can be attractive if they're done tastefully. Small things are fine. I personally find sleeves and tramp stamps to be pretty unattractive though. Not all tattoos need to have a meaning, but you shouldn't get something that has a clear and distinct meaning just becuase it looks cool. I have no qualms about them in the workplace either, as people have the right to express themselves. Although, people without tattoos (or who's tattoos can be covered by business-wear) are most likely going to be perceived as more professional.
