In this thread regarding proximity chat, DeeJ said that he would pass along the feedback to the people who should see it. Now, the game has gone gold. So why do we still not know if they implemented it?
Unless it is being crammed in there with a Day 1 patch, the people at Bungie would know if it is in there. Why not just tell us? Stop saying that beards were the #1 most requested thing from the beta. Voice chat was. Address it.

The Johnbonne of old would respond with "it should be such an obvious thing to put in that Bungie wouldn't need to confirm if it was there", but I can't help but take that somewhat seriously. I don't understand why the option, the ability to toggle the different kinds of chat on and off is so taboo especially when I'm seeing people say Destiny is such a social experience. I'd like very much to use the Tower as a place to find like-minded folk for at least group play, rather than guessing that R3 inspects a character and they get an anonymous poke. I'd also like to view other players as meaningful rather than just being there for the sake of Bungie trying to impress us with their persistent world tech; I'd like to interact with these people rather than attempt to sign to them that I'd like to request their help. I know people will say that there's abuse and spam, but this happens with any game that has voice communication (perhaps with the exception of Mario Kart 8 with its censorship), but for those who can tolerate it should have the option to keep it on. Muting players should be allowed as well, and thanks to the reputation system of the Xbox (I hope it works, anyway), they won't go unpunished for foul behaviour. If your experience is going to be soured then keep your options to fireteams that you know and trust. Just as those who want to throw back and fourth a bit of banter without group size limitations can do so. Not sure about you lot, but I don't want to feel like I'm in occupied Paris where I can look at other people but fear talking to them - I'd like to see for myself whether I'll get shot for opening my mouth first.
