I would like it to be really really difficult to obtains exotic/legendary weapons/armor. Like Final Fantasy XI difficult. Thats what kept me playing that game for so long. I dont know if any of you played that game but it was a real grindfest, even the leveling. To get the best items you would have to have a alliance of 16 people to kill the most powerful things like dragons and gods and stuff like that. I would like it to be very tough to complete certain missions or kill certain monsters that drop the best stuff like that. And on top of that make the drop rate low, so everybody cant easily get the same loadout as you. MMO's are all about armor, so if you let people easily get the best things the game will not survive. The reason FFXI survived so long is because people always had their eyes set out on some damn near impossible armor to get like a kraken club(0.08% drop rate if i remember)(Or 40-100mil in auction house) or a Ares Cuirass(Needed about 50 million gil). I never got neither but played the game at least 5-6 years eventually not even thinking about those things(better armor came out with DLC) Getting just one piece of a ares set took at least 6 months if you knew how to farm dynamis right. Also, while I agree with the not having a auction house/trading system, this could be a bad thing. You could have just set restrictions like : You can not trade or sell legendary or exotic weapons/items. Now this would be the same because everything else would be fairly accessible to get. I just want some kind of competitive aspect in this game even though they said they dont want it to be competitive. Dunno if any of you played FFXI but its probably one of the longest lasting MMO's with definitly the best community(Well had before they raised the level cap) Also a Notorious Monster system would be awesome, Like this monster spawns in this area at this time(The game uses a time system so this is possible, like daily events, but not annonced) and drops this item at this rate. That would be awesome because you could actually compete for something in PVE mode. Just suggestions, Opinions on whether you agree or disagree are apreciated. You can reach level 8 in 3 hours, which mean you can cap your character in a day, and have all 3 classes capped in 3 days. I did not have this game pre-ordered for 2 years to beat it in 2 weeks and get the best armor in 2 months, only point that I am trying to make. Please comment ^^

It should be incredibly rare.... So when you see someone with it you are amazed and when you finally earn it yourself you are giddy with excitement.
-
I want it to difficult enough that when someone sees my exotic armor/weapons that someone says " That's badass! Where did you get that?"
-
I feel like I should get an exotic just for getting through that giant chunk of text... And yes it should be tough.
-
Harder than buying them with coins that's for sure...
-
I think it should vary really. But it should be hard enough to make them uncommon in the game for awhile
-
I hope it's ridiculously hard
-
-
-
Legendary weapons should be difficult to get, but still do able for casuals. Exotics? Heh only for the hardcore players that will grind for hours for 1 exotic, and then go back and grind again because it wasn't the one they wanted for hours on end.
-
I think there needs to be a level above legendary, "EPIC" and have the colour be pearlesent..where it requires parts from 4 legendary weapons to make.. or made of a legendary weapon comined with a ultra rare drop …Part…lol but who knows how hard its going to be, there is going to be a endless list of weapons and armour and emblems to collect, forever changing!

Very
except for me : )
-
The harder the better! Easy acquisition would only cheapen them and seriously reduce bragging rights!

Edited by Hylebos: 9/1/2014 8:00:24 PMRequring players to grind for equipment doesn't make the game difficult, it makes the game asinine. I feel that exotics should be accessible and gated behind appropriately challenging tasks akin to Vidmaster Endure or Vidmaster Annual, challenges that you have to plan and coordinate with friends to complete.
-
Extremely difficult
-
I'm not reading that. I would like to read it. I would like it to be really really easy to read.
-
Dude c'mon that's one big wall of text. I'm sure it's interesting but I don't come to these forums to read novels.
-
From the beta it seemed difficult to get legendary items from loot drops. You could purchase them but getting your ranking was tough. I'm not going to say that it's easy, because it really isn't supposed to be.
-
It should.be at least 3 times as difficult.as.it.is in reality.to become.a billionaire.
-
With the fact that I saw like 12 legendaries being given to players during the iron banner, I assume it won't be that difficult
-
I also had like 4 legendaries in beta that I couldn't use, so yeah, can't be that difficult to get them

Edited by STARSIDE DESTINY: 9/1/2014 3:49:15 PMI'm sorry, but I think you're the only one that wants FFXI levels of grind in Destiny. I know that I don't. Based off of the Beta, Legendaries aren't very hard to get, they just require some grinding- for example, the Legendary Vanguard weapons require about 175 Vanguard Marks. Nothing is challenging about obtaining Marks, it just takes a while to accumulate that many. Exotics however will be very rare and will probably have extremely low drop chances (possibly getting in to the less-than-one-percent level of rarity). Or you could grind for Strange Coins (and Strange Trinkets, which weren't in the Beta) to buy Exotics. It seems to me that there are two major paths to end-game gear- the RNG path where you can grind extremely low drop chances (e.g. Strike loot, valuable Engram farming), and the token-system path (e.g. Strange Coins, Crucible/Vanguard Marks) in which you can make definite, but small, steps of progress towards your ultimate goal. Having both of these paths will hopefully make Destiny's end-game accommodating to hardcore and infrequent players alike. EDIT: Leveling was dramatically sped up for Beta, up to 3 times faster than the real game according to some reports. It will probably take you the better part of Day 1 to hit Level 8 again. I doubt that anyone will hit 20 within the first two days.

I played both the alpha and beta and didn't get any exotics. Maybe I am doing it wrong
-
It needs to be hard enough that when it drops, you feel accomplished for all your hard work. Legendary items won't feel legendary if you have 20 of them sitting in your stash.
-
Super hard
-
Harder than halo on legendary with all skulls.

From the agent of nine you'll eventually through playing random events and getting gold or through leveling reputations get 9 strange coins to buy an exotic weapon. I had 7 already from playing in the Beta. Also exotics come easy if you lvl reputation of cryptarch a bunch. Granted I don't think these will be the best exotics that drop from VOGH.
