THE SUDDEN NEED FOR SPLIT SCREEN?
How come whenever a new game comes out no one expects split screen! But because bungie made halo all of a sudden destiny must have it or it is worthless without it!
Games these days unless COD and HALO are never expected to have split screen no one ever sees a new bad ass game and thinks "it better have split screen" no one even expects that anymore these days...
I'm not saying I wouldn't want split screen in destiny but I'm simply replying to the all these new "Destiny sucks" threads and they keep bring up split screen... Like if it ever really mattered that much.
One again I wouldn't mind some split screen but shit oh well won't take much away from the game at all since it never even existed in it in the first place!
That's like taking a shit and eating it and then like taking another shit and eating that one you know? It makes no SENSE!

I think its cuz of the private loot system. If two people we're playing on the same screen you wouldn't get private loot like split screen in boarder lands 2

Cod had split screen, sort of. We'll see about the density of the environments, but generally games that don't have a lot of density and don't have destruction could easily add split screen. My worry is that Destiny is built on an engine that both doesn't allow for destruction or efficient multiple rendering. That would be because the assets are pre rendered with a lot of post processing effects tacked on to make it look pretty. Kinda short sighted, as they seem to have let older consoles hold the entire franchise back.

Arguably bungie is best known for competitive FPS LAN/couch co-op/online games... they set the standard for co-op gaming in a lot of respects. Sooooo... long time bungie fans were VERY surprised to see the formula change, simple as that. It is all about building a "brand"... and whenever a company flips their formula for success (which they are totally entitled to do) there is always an outcry of "WTF"... So if you are upset that there is no splitscreen... very understandable, most people are. But if you are not upset... that is also understandable. It is called an opinion...

It would be neat for when friends are over like everyone else has said. But also like everyone else said it is an online game and doesnt need the split screen cause it is just more cause for lag

Split screen should only be for local multiplayer, not online. Since Destiny is 100% online there is no need for it. The last time I thought split screen was fun was Goldeneye on N64 or Unreal Tournament on Dreamcast

A company adds a feature to a series of products. A company makes new and completely different product(s) without that feature. People get all red-faced and sobbing. Just because they did it with Halo doesn't mean they owe it to you in Destiny. This is the product. These are it's features. Buy it or don't.

8 Repliesi don't know what you are talking about. Every multiplayer game i have ever played has had, at the very least, a vocal minority who wished for splitscreen. It is a feature that is universally wanted, especially in the FPS genre that rules the majority of the popular game market. Its easy to implement, and players with friends around benefit more by playing splitscreen than by having 2 consoles or taking turns. You can name any shooter(hell, any multiplayer game) in the last 5 years without splitscreen capabilities, and I can guarantee that it was asked for a lot beforehand. It certainly is not just because halo had splitscreen. For me, and many others, splitscreen is an addition that increases the value of every game its in, whether we use it or not. Sadly, the companies tend to not see this as well as they used to.

Wrong I believe all games should have split screen not just halo or cod I'm not sure when developers decided to take that out but alot of games would be more fun with split screen (not to mention cheaper because I don't have to buy two consoles and a TV and ect in order to play with people at my house) But that's just my opinion there's no need to go spreading it around.

I usually see people saying that split screen is great for playing with your friends in the same room. But if that's what want id just put on sports friends or towerfall cause thats what they're made for. To me Destiny a little more serious than friends dicking around, i actually wanna accomplish something when playing destiny, and that aint happening with my friends around

Because who wants to hang out with friends in person to play video games? How could that possibly be enjoyable? And LAN parties were never fun either, and never helped foster the gaming community...

splitscreen is pointless.. just get your friend an xbox geez.. however, custom games are not pointless and should be put in, along with chat options, that is all
