I pulled together some of the footage from the beta during the Moon's special 2hr premiere. This was pure exploration of what could be found on the moon. I was taken back again by how well the atmosphere and sounds played throughout the creepy Hive lair.
Are you impressed with the game's sound design and atmosphere/level design thus far? I think it was quite fantastic.

I played the moon mission with 2 characters. The first time I just did the main mission without exploring. I completed it and then of course had connection problems after I started to explore. I switched characters and decided to just do a little exploring. After that first encounter, I went to the left instead of the right and made it around to that huge hole in the moon. The atmosphere was eerie because of the relative silence. I didn't really understand it till I looked around and realized that there were was literally 1 other Guardian on the moon with me. I had no problems tackling the wizard section by myself but once I went off the beaten path, things were different. It was empty and unsettling. I made for that big hole and started to descend into the structure taking out the hive along the way but I kept hearing things, whispers, that would make be turn around to make sure I hadn't forgotten an enemy. I kept going lower in the structure into the dark and I got to a point where the whispers had me a little rattled and I literally turned and ran out of the structure and went into orbit. The sense of foreboding that Bungie was able to create on the moon was really something else. It reminded me a lot of some of the Flood levels which I absolutely dreaded because of the little noises. I look forward to doing this with friends.
