I'm Happy PPL Dont Want Raid MatchMaking

Im glad about this. There [i]shouldnt[/i] be PUG raiding. Its supposed to be something to achieve. Something [i]hard[/i]. I dont see why people want it to be handed to them. Join a clan. Or a group. Come to bnet. Reddit. There are an assload of communities thriving around this game. And most want more members. Go meet people. But ive seen a big push from people like me who dont think raids should have matchmaking. That increases the speed of my hype train. Makes me giddy. #HYPE!!!!!!!!   • I like it the way it is. My gaming time is precious and when I am able to sit down and play I don't want to have to worry about getting halfway through a raid to have people start quitting the raid because it become to hard or it's taking to long

    • I want the Raids to be as pure as Bungie intended them to be, I want to be worked hard and I would like to see MM. I don't understand this connection people are making between laziness and MM? I find the notion itself quite lazy. There are people who genuinely want it (MM) because of time constraints and any number of other commitments. These people want an easy way in to the Raid, not an easy time playing it.

        In my opinion, I think they should allow matchmaking for raids. Yeah. It's supposed to be really hard and you should gear up with friends and talk and stuff prior. But, if Bungie says the raids are supposed to be 2-3 hours long- anyone attempting the raid should be well aware of that. And guess what? Chances are people will feel hard pressed to talk, communicate, AND make friends with these players. And these players will party up again to re-try it. They'll quickly LEARN that they need communication or friendship or different tactics or people who have set availability to do it. Not everyone you encounter in matchmaking or strikes or exploring may actually want to attempt the raids. Those you meet in raid you will KNOW they are there for it. That's how it works. I've made plenty of friends playing Call of Duty zombies where we did pretty good but had a great time and came back for it. I don't see why both options aren't provided. If you prefer to get a group and have a higher chance of success, great. If a lot of people end up wasting their time in matchmaking it doesn't effect you in the slightest. People will adapt to the challenges set before them is my point. Setting up a box of limitedness is silly.

        • I don't think MM players want it to be easier they just want MM. Some people have a lot of anxiety when it comes to chatting with a stranger. IMO

            Your quoted "great" article was pretty bad. All credibility was lost with this article when the author argued that raids weren't for players who can't find 5 other friends to play with and then equates that to "I want to be the world’s top-ranked Call of Duty player, and I can’t. We all have our different crosses to bear." Determining that raids are or aren't for someone based on the number of friends online at that particular time is inconsistent and has nothing to do with skill level, though the author seems to think it does. Raids are an access issue, meeting a requirement like carpool lanes (must have 2 or 3 in the car to use this lane), except in this scenario you can still get to your destination without taking the carpool lane. Even Bungie has said that Raids on normal difficulty are not a thumbskill challenge but rather investment (time) and cooperative challenge. Saying that raids aren't for the following people is a copout: 1) Clans that only have 5 people on because the 6th wasn't available (network issues, life, etc.) 2) Clans with 10 people on - 4 of which can't play the raid. 3) Players with max friend lists but no one is into Destiny or is on at the same time 4) Top skilled players who have always focused on pve and never had a requirement to have friends to play these modes. That does not prevent them from building out their friends lists or joining a clan, but see previous points that would still impact them. Putting up an access barrier that requires you to be level 20 is one thing because it is finite and measurable, but leaving access up to random uncontrollable scenarios only reflects poorly on the design and decisions and not on the abilities, planning, and coordination set out by players. I have yet to hear a good argument as to why matchmaking should not be included. Nerfing? This is purely speculative and Bungie has already put controls in to prevent this - they introduced tier level difficulty. Regardless of what is done, there will be people complaining about how hard it is, because all of those "randoms" are going to join a random clan just so they can play the raid. They aren't going to invest in being friends with the clan; it is only to get access. Hard to achieve? Beating the raid should be hard to achieve, not accessing it. If the most difficult part about raids is accessing the content then raids are set for failure. Teamwork is required? Randoms playing in a clan won't be much different, and unless the fireteam members are consistent you will always have randoms playing with each other. Puzzle for the math guru's, how many different combination of players can you have when making a team of 6 out of 75? I would actually argue that Matchmaking will improve teamwork and success rates for those who have the potential to beat the raid. This is because they will have more opportunities to play the raid and learn the encounters even if they know that there won't be a chance for them to finish it or get any good gear on that particular run. Lastly, matchmaking does not prevent clans or friends from running Raids the same way as Bungie has already described so for people who do not want matchmaking, you actually wouldn't know the difference!

            • I'm very against the match making dude. But all these super devout MM supporters who don't -blam!-ing understand are making me reconsider. I'm now saying -blam!- it! Let them have it! Hell let them go in solo! So long as i get a 100% garuntee of NO nerfing i'll be quite satisfied watching masses of people waste their time at failing miserably. Bungie said in the latest interview that anything less than 6 dedicated players sticking to their role is a garunteed failure. But whatever. Some people just gotta get slapped in the face before they'll believe it hurts.

                  Something I don't quite understand though... How does having matchmaking make raids inherently easier? It wouldn't, and the typical "MM parties will moan about difficulty" argument is also invalid, because ultimately the developer will do as they please, seeing as it's their game and all. So difficulty concerns will only be taken notice of in the event the devs themselves are concerned. And something a lot of the anti-MM guys don't seem to understand.. Not everyone has been long-term console gamers with a huge friend list to play with, shouldn't they be afforded the opportunity to play all of the game, [i]or at least attempt to[/i]. You can't just expect that everyone has this huge friend base to play with constantly. The main problem I have with the lack implementation for raid MM is the fact the game is geared towards being social and I bought [b]a game[/b], not the ability to join a forum/clan/group. I could do that without my $100 purchase. Why should anyone have to stop playing, and invest time specifically for the purpose of finding 5 other people, with schedules that match up for the sole purpose of doing an in-game mission? This process should be an in-game feature, which is streamlined in some fashion, so people can just attempt with randoms if they so choose, whether they will fail or not.

                  • Every time i played a story mode or explore on the beta. Someone always game me a friend request. On the first time i made 2 really good friends. I think some people are just antisocial in the first place.

                  • I want Public matches (MM) for people like me that can't easily find 5 people to raid with as well as Private Matches for those raid elitist a that don't want randoms in their crew. Apparently satisfying the needs of both sides isn't okay for the elitist though. My response to that: If I choose to play with randoms, I'll deal with their BS.

                  • Raiding is like herding cats. Its bad enough when you know the people you are dealing with. If matchmaking was allowed the conversation would be about noobs screwing up a raid. Its not hard to grab a few people in town.

                    All those of you opposed to MM for raids. You are missing something. There's only 1 reason why people like me want it. I don't want to limit myself to playing with the same small handful of players every time I log into a game. That kills a game quicker for me than anything else out there, when it comes to multiplayer. I need to be able to play against lots of different people. That is where I get my variety from. You are trying to take away my variety. You are being selfish. And the only reason you are being selfish and trying to deny me of my variety is based on the fact that you personally would not want to play with randoms. And you automatically assume, with no hard facts to back up your claims... that it somehow leads to content being nerfed. I do not play internet games to limit myself to playing with only 6 out Millions of players possible out there. I did not play Customs games on Halo, for this same exact reason. I gave Bungie the benefit of the doubt when it came to Halo. But now, Destiny has shown me that Bungie is just -blam!-ed up in their core ideas of how to handle an internet community. I want the RAW experience of playing with people over the internet. I do not want you trying to control how I interact with other people on the internet. I can handle being trolled, quit on, lousy teammates, etc. I cannot and will not subject myself to the bore that is playing with the same people day after day after day after day. We might as well be stuck to playing on LANS for what it's worth and how much you people are trying to limit us. I mean, if you can't handle an internet Random. WTF ARE YOU PLAYING GAMES OVER THE INTERNET?

                    • I think match making and raids are the main things I do not look forward to when it comes to console gaming. I think I actually hate it more than trying to play a shooter with an analog controller. There is a generation gap for me with the majority of the player base on console because I am older. Most of the players on Consoles are young and quite frankly they tend to be a bit less mature. I'll probably get a lot of hate from that but it is a simple fact of life. I tend to try and find groups of players that are more around my age and people that I tend to find more laid back. Sadly that seems to be less and less each year when it comes to trying to find such people on consoles. The console is a platform for the younger people. Sure many older people play on Consoles as well but as the years go by more and more kids join and the older players stop playing them. It is a simple fact that Consoles are for younger generations. Anyways... The hassles of dealing with many gamers over comm's in consoles is a bit irritating. Trying to find groups and coordinating things can be a pain. I tend to find this a lot easier on the PC. So I'll probably be solo mostly for this game at least until they decided to release the game on the PC, if they decide to release the game on the PC. Most of my friends are on PC. Who knows though. Maybe I'll find players on the PS3 that are more around my demographic. Only time will tell. :)

                    • No Public Matchmaking also decreases the chance of trolls, people without mics, and those that are inherently childish. It also makes it a pain since you have to find 5 others who are all online, and want to do the raid.

                        • Looking for players to join our PS4 group. Both admins are 20 years of age. Looking for similar age group (18+). We live in eastern time zone. We both have mics. We aren't like super super serious but we do want a dedicated group to do the Raids especially. So, a mic is required. Just send a request and we will add you!                           • Get off your high horse. You might as well say if I don't like something it should be banned for everyone else. You don't want to do raids with randoms? Fine, don't do raids with randoms! However, that shouldn't be a reason to prevent everyone else from doing just that. This is the type of attitude that stifles innovation. All of the listed problems people point out could be easily solved. A warning screen before the game starts could easily tell someone how long this might take and the challenging nature of the game mode. You could have a selection screen which lets you set which classes you want in your squad. (Preferences) Lastly, how would MM equal easier raids? If anything they would be harder. To say people would scream for a raid nerf if MM is allowed is pure speculation, and what makes you think people won't still call for a raid nerf even if MM wasn't allowed?

                              How is a group of 6 random attempting a raid = having things handed to them? If anything the challenge is more difficult. if you want to take the stance of a selfish pick, at least begin by knowing how to properly argue your point. Instead of helping mine.

                                • i personally dont care if there is mm, i already joined a clan to do raids. if there would be mm, im pretty sure even the retards could finish the raid, i doubt it will be that difficult, its just a shooter in the end. and if there would be mm, i could do raids 24/7 xD

                                • I myself at first overreacted. I was upset without giving much thought. Then I thought about it and had a good talk with some friends about it and it all made sence. The only thing I'm worries bout now, I hope the raid is 10% as hard as they make it out to be. I've seen way too many companies that say the content is going to be so hard we will beg for a nerf. Just to have it release and be destroyed by the average player. I want content that will make me hate my controller again like it use to be.

                                      • People in favor of raid matchmaking are giving randoms the benefit of the doubt. This is your ignorance or your stupidity coming into play. You're trusting someone to have your back that very likely doesn't give a shit about you. Some ADD 11 year old that will rage quit at the first sign of adversity. He will be rewarded by sliding into another matchmaking raid in no time flat to get carried by someone else. Where you will be down a man or more trying to soldier on through hours of content at a massive disadvantage. Think through your position a little more. Better yet make some friends or join a clan. Then you'll have one less thing to whine about. Then you can go back to complaining about the lack of custom matches or a nerf/buff to ruin the balance of the game.
