Edited by darkwyve: 8/22/2014 10:03:49 PMYeah ,cuz confirmation from a guy with a website that's less than a year old, only a handful of fans and followers is definitely proof. Especially when he screws up a simple article, and states inaccurate information: Such as stating the Reef has a Raid (it probably will eventually, but it does not as of yet, as an actual article with bungie verified that Destiny will only have the 1 raid, Vault of Glass, with other raids to follow in future expansions.) He states Mercury 'may' be available in pvp at launch, but yet another bungie interview already verified there will be 10 PVP maps at launch, and one of them will definitely be a Mercury map, he even talks about how the lighting on the map changes and can get in the way of shooters (especially snipers). Lastly, to put the nail in the coffin that this guy is unreliable, the ONLY source he quotes is from people who data-mined the beta, people themselves that said their information was questionable and open to interpretation... However, despite all of this, due to the way just about all MMO's (or online only) games are launched, it is still likely that there will be a world-wide server launch time, but there is nothing to still confirm it from any reliable source.

Bungie needs to come out with an official comment on this subject.
-
Well either way just be ready if you get home from midnight release to find you can't play your game.
-
The fact he said "firesinger" takes any respect I could of had for that website and threw it away.
-
Still not official confirmation. This is based on the PSN digital download in the US. Other digital downloads are also midnight in their time zone, confirmed by customers in Germany and Great Britain. This is just an article written by someone, not a quote by anyone at Bungie.
-
You are a fool. That's not confirmation that's one bloggers opinion. That article doesn't quote any Bungie employee. It doesn't cite it's resources and is not even well written. You probably believe everything published on the Internet.
-
I guess it just all FPS fans that frequent these forums. This isn't new, it's actually an odd sight to see so many people unwilling to understand this. This is what all online only games do, specifically MMOs (the closest thing to what Destiny is as far as how the game is set up) always have a specific server up time regardless of if they have euro servers or not. The way the content works would give people a serious head start in completing it since things like raids are actually competitive between serious guilds with world firsts and all that stuff. If this wasn't the case there are many people who would just buy the Aussie or Euro versions of the game instead of American just to be at or almost to endgame before they would be able to in America.

If I see one more idiotic post like this... Look, the game won't DOWNLOAD until 12pm PST. If you get the game in Aus-blam!-ingtralia at midnight, you can play when you get home at 12:30 am whatever Sydney's timezone is. The servers will be up. It's like that for every game other than MMOs and please don't say Destiny is a MMO.

Edited by Dr V: 8/22/2014 2:56:27 PMI'm going to take anything related to server launches from 3rd parties with a grain of salt. Bungie really needs to put out an offical response.

Not true, not confirmed. A handful of people that get "early copies" are likely to already be playing online. This idea that the servers will be "turned on" at midnight is false. All likely hood is that the servers will be on and prepared hours before the game actually gets in the hands of the gamers.
-
I'm good. I'll be up at 12 and by 3 am the severs will be up. It's gonna take 3 hrs to download lol!
the beta took forever to download even with fios's highest internet available
But in seriousness 3 more hours is nothing I've waited this long
-
For those looking for confirmation: 12 pst is what's listed as starting time on the PlayStation store.
-
I'd be shocked if servers aren't online whenever get our copies. Reviewers will be playing the hell out of the game before launch, they will be making sure everything is working long before stores sell out copies. I'm sure they just list one time online to save confusion.
-
So will be getting it at midnight but still gonna have to wait till 8am. Thats total bollards! I call favouritism!
-
Meh I'm waiting till I get off work that day so it's whatever for me. But that sucks if it actually does happen. EST would have to wait 3 hours. I can't imagine other places
-
Why the big rush to play the game? Once you have your copy you can play it at your leisure. What is it, rush to finish the game first? If what is said is true, I won't be able to play it til 4:30am my time on September 9th. So I'll just stay in bed and play it when I get up.

Edited by Deleted User: 8/22/2014 1:07:43 PMLolBungie. Sorry guys you cant play your game at midnight launch.
-
Seriously I have to wait until 3am.
-
I'll believe it when bungie themselves announce it. It makes no sense to me to have the servers go online at midnight bungie time, and have them be instantly bombarded by millions of players.
-
Not sure why this is a surprise to anyone. Ill be at work anyways but my Ghost edition will be at the house when I get off.
-
I'm going to have to wait until after work anyway. So it doesn't make much difference to me.
-
Good timing for me, means the server kicks on one hour before my local Gamestop store opens.
-
Edited by Cardinal Erebus: 8/22/2014 12:42:46 PMOMFG I HAVE TO WAIT 17HOURS. ALMOST A FULL -BLAMING!- DAY. I AM GOING TO BE GETTING IT AND STARRING AT IT FOR 17 -BLAMING!- HOURS UNTIL THE SERVERS ARE UP! BBUUUUUNNNNNNGGGIIIEEEEEEE
-
Hay if you got the game early, all it means is I get it install it faster, and when the servers turn on, I'll already be playing.
