• People still think you have to upgrade frequently just to stay in the game? You're either building with parts that are already outdated or you don't know what you're doing and are wasting money. I've been gaming with the same PC for 3-4 years and I don't even need to upgrade it yet, I'm choosing to do so because my budget was tight when I built this PC and I want something stronger. The next PC I make will last 10 years if I choose to wait that long, but why do that when I can upgrade it whenever I want? That's the thing with consoles, I don't have anything against them because I play on console, but after a few years the hardware isn't as magnificent as it once seemed when it first came out. 360/PS3 seemed amazing when it first came out, but years later you could tell it wasn't as amazing as we thought because technology is advancing so fast it makes anything older look bad. With PC gaming this isn't a problem because you don't have to accept outdated hardware for a decade. tl;dr, PCs don't have to be upgraded so frequently, that's a choice the player makes. A few years from now the PS4/X1 will start to look slow compared to PC because of how fast technology is advancing. Doesn't mean consoles are bad, they just aren't as good.

  • never said you had to constantly update to keep playing, only that its outdated right away, which is something i dont like after dropping a ton of money. my last rig lasted 5 years before the cpu blew, i would have had to build a whole new one due to pci changes if i wanted it to be top end again. advances being as fast as they are for pcs is as much of a downfall as it is a good thing.

  • Based off of what you're saying, consoles may as well be outdated before they're even out, unless you're talking about PC and consoles in their own category and not gaming as a whole. As for your CPU, that isn't something that happens to all CPUs, maybe something was wrong with yours. Most PC hardware comes out one/two years at a time but that doesn't mean the previous version is obsolete now. I use a gtx 650 ti which is almost 2 years behind (800 series coming out soon) but it's not like going from PS3 to PS4. There is no downfall as you say, the newer version is better, of course, but it isn't miles ahead.

Your a liar PCs don't need to be updated constantly that's a misconception people have that just not true in fact games and PCs have a longer life span than consoles. When a new consoles comes out all the games you bought become outdated because they can only be played on that console. That doesn't happen on the PC.
