There seems to be a lot of whining in here, and then there is a lot of whining about whining. Then there are those who whine about those who whine about those who whine even. So I am going to go one step further. Whine X4. Actually, this is not a angry post or anything, just putting this in for others to think about before they hastily go ahead and cancel their pre-orders. They are going to be missing out on one hell of a game.
There are countless things players are frustrated with about Destiny: no prox. chat, no match making for raids, one zone per planet, erasing beta characters, characters over or underpowered, weapons that are over or under powered, etc. So with all that, I have one thing I think some people need to know:
Bungie is not new to video games.
It almost seems like some people do not think that Bungie has put any thought into the stuff that they choose to complain about. I cannot understand why. Bungie has been around for more than a few months, and have made games before that have seen the light of day. I find it hard to believe that they have not considered character's skills and abilities, weapons, and many other things before putting them or leaving them out of the game and how they are balanced fairly. Why is there no proximity chat? Don't know, but am positive that Bungie has thought of that. Raid match making, character wipe, and other things they have commented on already, which means that they have put thought into that before anyone started finding issues with that.
From what we heard, the beta was a success, and they have learned tons of information, but that was only a small piece of the game that we got to see, experience, and critique. There are more missions, more planets, more skills, more weapons, more everything. That stuff we didn't see will be there September, and I am sure Bungie will discover some things that may need a little fixing. However, back to my original point, this is not their first game, and they have been working on this game for a long time.
So my point? Before you start to speculate, assume, guess, and make wild accusations, cancel pre-orders and badmouth Bungie, do this: Trust Bungie.
EDIT: Some people were not careful when they were reading.

I like cheese with my whine.

Edited by H0TWAD: 8/16/2014 7:50:18 PMThe thing is this: people are bitching and moaning, but most people are NOT complaining to Bungie. As a consumer it is your responsibility to keep the producer in check. Noone is doing that. For every 10,000 people that complain about something, maybe one or two of them has dropped their preorder. Ultimately that is how Bungie will know if their actions are unacceptable. If you have that big of a problem with destiny then use your buyer's power and cancel your preorder. Simple as that. I like the way they are doing things and am personally happy with what the beta represents. I'll be getting the game and so will a bunch of other people (whether or not they admit it). It seems to me that more people are interested in whining then anything else. These are the same people that call for every gun in battlefield to be nerfed until everything you pick is the exact same thing with a different skin. People whining just to whine. If you don't like it then get out. Problem?

NAWL MFA who u think made halo

I agree completely and utterly. I'm glad someone has finally talked about this here!
-
Yes thank you! I have been thinking this from the moment people started complaining over every little nuance. They can't appeal to EVERY single player because we are all too different. I for one think they have done an impeccable job on what they have accomplished so far, we have only scratched the surface of this game and this world they have created. Just be patient and #trustbungie!
-
I'm sorry, but what evidence is there that Bungie HAS taken any of this into account? I'm fine with giving them the benefit of the doubt...but blind trust? Sorry, but no.
-
Twitch shooters have ruined the masses
-
Everyone's arguing about bungie and I'm just sitting here masturbating
-
Fun fact: A Bungie game is always a Bungie game.
-
Finally, someone other then me who loves bungie! Q_Q Brings tears to my eys....I think I am going to cry
-
You sir, deserve a reward for being the first person to speak this out. I personally trust Bungie. Even if they don't deliver a few bits and pieces of extra stuff I'd want? I'm still going to buy and play their games.
-
I couldn't agree more with what you posted. And reiterating vlRL Nightmare's point : There aren't a lot of people who respect common and intelligent speaking anymore. It's a shame.
-
Eloquent and I couldn't agree more. Bonus points for execution without trash talking as well. Something a lot of people seems to have forgotten is tact.

Maybe if Destiny was on F*** PC.. WE WOULD HAVE F**** CHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, I 100% agree on this one, It boggles my mind how people expect so much and show so little faith in Bungie. Like whether or not you hate Bungie or love them, there is no denying that they are at the top of the charts in terms of game development. Now feel free to point out if this sounds silly or not, but in my opinion, I think that most of those who stuck with Bungie through Halo and are now moving on to destiny are more then happy with the additions that bungie has added to Destiny compared to older titles. I feel that those who are currently new to how Bungie develops there games are coming from titles that offer far more in terms of social interactivity then pure to the core game play immersion (Characters, World, etc). Just my two cents. Cheers!

We don't just whine about these things. I have suggested a better solution to matchmaking as well as how proximity chat would work well multiple times, instead of just saying "MM must be there or stupid game" and "proxy chat or cancel preorder" etc. My faith in Bungie was never shaken though, and it was rewarded when they said they are looking into the chat options.
-
I support this. Stop whining and actually help Bungie by giving them ideas, not telling them what they need to fix before a game even comes out! They probably already thought over every small itty-bitty detail. In Bungie We Trust.

Sorry folks your actually going to have to talk to people you have never met. For those of you upset about not having MM for raids are more than welcome to continue playing your FPS. Bungie is fusing MMORPG with FPS. MM is a fatality of that merge. Your going to have to step out of your comfort zone. Your going to actually have to interact with people. Personally I would rather know that the person I just spent 10 hours raiding with deserves the loot. I enjoy MM for FPS. So when I want to be anti-social and just play, I'll just pop in BF. Remember you always have the option of not playing Destiny. On the days when work, family, life gets in the way of playing, don't play. I know abstract concepts.

Aren't u whining about everthing

After carefully reading your post................................... Pre-order cancelled! J/K - I agree with everything you said. I have been saying this all along as well. Do people really think that Bungie's first IP after splitting from Microsoft is some half-assed indie title designed to piss off their Halo fans? Careful thought and consideration have gone into every aspect of this game. If you don't agree with some/all of those aspects, this game may not be for you. Face it, this isn't Halo remade for all consoles. It is a new IP designed in the vision of its creator's. Not everyone is going to like it. Some may even hate it. But, that's OK. Those folks can find something else to do. I trust Bungie. They make great games. This is their baby. They will not neglect it.
-
You think whining is bad, I'm about to blow your mind. I'm going to whine about people who whine about whiners whining over others who whine. Can you handle that?
-
You can only go so far into commenting on how far people will layer arguments about whining before you have to submit a thesis ^^^^ looks like we hit the apex And I fully agree with the OP.
-
I concur.

There's a few things: 1. We didn't see the final product so it's difficult to judge on what the game actually is. Also the game will change over time as well. 2. There's a fine line between making a unique game with novel parts and what is tried and true. Not having a pervasive chat, text or otherwise IMO hinders the social aspect of the game. Or at the very least changes that dynamic. Assuming Bungie wants a "Journey-like" experience this contradicts end game strikes and raids that will rely heavily on communication. But again, maybe there's a "bridge" in the main game, or some sort of learning curve where the proper levels of communication are introduced. Same with clans. In MMOs you are always talking to members in your guild, getting to know them. Doing this on a forum is OK, but it also seems clunky, especially if there's no additional way to get to know the actual person in game for things like raiding. Sometimes game designers have an idea for what they want the player to experience but it could end up totally different in reality. 3. I don't know what my point was other than Bungie isn't infallible. And that there are issues, like the social ones, that I think Bungie is aware of and is waiting to see how they play out. These aren't necessarily game breaking issues, but rather just the experiments that goes on sometimes in game design.
