PS4 share play feature is HUGE

Share your screen with your friend and let them "take the controls" even if they dont own the game or have it installed... Wait.. so your friend is essentially streaming the game through the internet... similar to how PSnow where you stream legacy games over the internet? Ummm this sounds really similar to "cloud gaming", and if i remember correctly a lot of people said cloud gaming was stupid because it was always limited by your bandwidth. Apparently over half the US population has such terrible internet, they cant utilise the cloud. So how is PS4 share play suddenly exempt from all the bandwidth limitations that xbox live cloud was? cmon fanboys, the fanboyism is showing

  • Cloud computing and streaming are two completely different things. Game sharing is just streaming a video of the game from Sony's servers to your console (think PS Now or OnLive). Cloud computing calculates various equations for a physics engine and streams that data to the console. Streaming video doesn't require a high download speed. Cloud computing, on the other hand, requires an extremely minimal amount of latency (read: small ping), which a lot of people don't have.
