"Darkness is an Illusion. There is only Light." –Unknown, a Guardian from the Outer Rims.
The Light of the Traveler and the Guardians are a beacon, a haven that welcomes all under its protection, and we knew the Darkness was coming back to smother our Light. We struggled to stave it and its minions from the abyss, but it may have been too soon as our Light is dimming. How can Light be beaten back by Darkness? Many wise men and women pondered upon this until a lone Guardian returned from the Outer Rims, where many of our brothers and sisters have been lost as they protected the edge of our reclaimed system. He had happened to overhear the wise ones and interposed, "Light casts Shadow. The Darkness is a Shadow."
They were taken aback at first before one of them gruffly replied, "Isn't that obvious? We're discussing how to turn back the Darkness. We know what the Darkness is."
"Do you?" The Guardian's emphatic daunted the wise man as he continued, "Darkness is an illusion. There is only Light."
And those were his final words as he departed back to the Outer Rims. The nameless Guardian's words stuck with many of them as they pondered day by day until slowly a stark realization overcome them. Light casts Shadow. The Darkness is a Shadow. Darkness is an illusion. There is only Light... It couldn't possibly be... The Darkness being cast by another Light?
