I think ive heard every single reason FOR matchmaking, and a few ways to help alleviate those reasons. But im still yet to hear a significantly mindblowing reason against.
This is not a thread i intended to start for the sake of violently arguing over one side or another, im asking for a genuinely logical reasons against the idea of matchmaking.
But i must mention, before anyone posts anything, there are some reasons i find completely illogical (when you consider long term, or the grander scheme of things), which ill list as i think of them, assuming someone doesnt post them first. Feel free to dispute my responses however, but please keep it civil.
1. It will be too hard for pugs.
- So? I dont think anyone will go into one expecting a free pass, and a Pug would be excellent practice for a organised raids if need be. Not to mention, 6 months from now when people have the main strategy down, if people just do that, it will help lower the issues caused by randoms.
2. It will ruin the bragging rights
- Not really. Unless they make it easier in MM (which they wouldnt), then your world record time, loot and successes will be just as valid as they are without MM. This isnt WoW LFR, people, dont confuse it as such.
3. Raids are ABOUT GROUPS BEING ORGANISED ... (and working together.)
- What, where did you hear that? WoW? Hell no, Raids are about the challenges, and overcoming them, no matter how you go about finding the people for it. Oh, and loot. (really, how many people in WoW for instance, did the raids for the challenge it presented...?)
4. People will complain its too hard, and ruin the rep of the community/bungie/destiny.
- ... People will whinge anyway. The people complaining will be the same people, regardless of if theyre in an organised group or not. But if theyre in an organised group, then youre more likely to be carrying them the whole way :P
But yeah. Basically, thats all for now. Keep in mind, i do see some issues with Matchmaking too, but i find that the pros outweigh the cons by far. When you take a stance on one side or another, consider the other side of things too. Which is why i'm asking for these cons people see.
Im personally all for Matchmaking because most of my steam friends are composed of L4D expert, Payday2 Overkill, Guns of Icarus, and similar teammates. Sticking to friends is nice and all, but its really inconvenient for making MORE of them.
