If you were designated to be the commander of guardians, what would your strategic plan be to turn the tides of avoiding humanities extinction? What missions would you assign the guardians? What would be the priorities? How are we ultimately going to push back the darkness? Any strategists out there please, enlighten us...
Edit:1) Everyone plans on taking back Earth first, wouldn't you think the enemy would also be expecting us to do that? Therefore plan on crushing any resistance as early as possible. How would you counter that? What would they least expect us doing that will turn the tides of battle?

Fix up he Cassini and get the hell out of the solar system
-
Titans to the front, Hunters behind them providing cover, and Warlocks in the back where they wont get in the way haha!
-
Depends on what sorts of WMDs we have. Top-priority would be sealing the Hellmouth, and that would take some nuclear-level firepower. At the same time, small Guardian strike-teams would need to hit the weak-points of immediate threats to the City (like the mission to take out Sepiks Prime). Once the Moon is secure, Guardians would be deployed to engage in guerrilla actions against the Cabal; they're too strong to take in straight fight. Larger forces would be spread throughout the system to root out and eliminate hostile Fallen Houses. A diplomatic team would be sent to the Reef to work out an official alliance with the Awoken Queen. Vex would be tricky... the main priority on Venus would be taking back key points like the Academy and recovering whatever Golden Age tech is still there. Guardians would need to hit the warp-gates to really hurt the Vex, but that's easier said than done.

Edited by wigriffi: 8/8/2014 4:55:25 PMI'd write a code of military regulations, squad level tactics, and war ethics. I would circulate this throughout the ranks of guardians. When the fighting starts and we follow none of our own doctrine the enemy will be confused and ultimately destroyed. Edit: OR I would convince The Sentr... I mean, Traveller that The Voi... er, Darkness is part of his psych born when he drank the serum. I would then use the golden guardian of good's own psychic powers to hypnotize the entire earth (including The Sen... oops, Traveller itself) into forgetting he ever existed. When he inevitably comes back I would hit him with a heli-carrier, have a Thorlock kill him, and toss his body into the sun.

Leave earth and have every alien race join my side to go fight the reap..... Oh wait , never mind
he was marauder shields
-
Take back the cities the aliens have conquered and start rebuilding with a heavily armed force of guardians: make titans in charge of defending and building other walls, place warlocks in extermination of possible threats and creating new designs for the city that somehow harness the travelers power. Lastly I would make hunters in charge of outer defense of the walls while my men build inside. The hunters job is perhaps most important as they have to defend it from the enemy trying to retake it. However since they would know the area well, scouting would warn us of attacks and let us divert our power to the front walls or not to see what were up against.
-
Mass retreat to earth's city, then a massive bombing of all other areas and planets for a clean slate.
-
Fortify what we have left, and work on routes. For example thus routes can be used to transport goods, securing space routes and making a blockade would be nice but I think we lack the resources to do so. 1st thing first gather em resources through simpler routes while fortifying checkpoints through them.

Try to give commands to every guardian . Then realize that they are players with free will that won't listen so , sit back and let them wing it gamers love winging it

First off as commander w, I'd like to be constantly fed information about the enemy whereabouts. Once I figure out a rhythm i'd ask all guardian vanguards for a meeting taking place in the tower. We'd discuss forms of recon and which vanguard handles what (Warlocks taking care of long range heavy fire, Hunters taking care of stealth assassinations, and Titans taking care of any frontal assault if shit hits the fan) Once those roles are figured out, I'd like to form groups of elites to head into the solar system and take out small command posts and while they're at it, gather information on any enemy plans and or any useful information on their anatomy. Having the force of knowledge behind me, I'll try to set up a research team to help out The speaker (I forgot his name, but he speaks for the traveler) to find out if their are any remnants of the Golden Age left. If there is, I'd have four squadrons of elite guardians head to the designated planet to find those remnants. If there isn't I'd rinse and repeat everything aside the meeting with vanguards.

So this just hit me, what if all of the evil races are past protectors of the traveler. They realized that it was causing them trouble, so they attacked it, the traveler bounced from planet to planet, hive to fallen to cabal to humans to vex etc. when we realize the damage it causes we attack the traveler, thus becoming part of the "darkness". With the eventual death of the traveler the golden age tech all the races experienced will disappear with it, thus plunging all races into a dark age with the repercussions of the dark ages of medieval Europe. But if the past protector races aren't the darkness, then I wonder what dark power really is. If you think about it lore never comes out and says "____ races are the darkness" any comments?
-
I would just send in all guardians at once and overwhelm the enemy fortfications. Just do that planet by planet, and the war would be over fairly quickly.
-
Dead orbit son. Mission is to GTFO. Spend all resources on finding a suitable system to relocate, repopulate and regroup now that we know the darkness is coming. Tow lines to bring the traveller along.
-
Venture into the traveler analyze its secret, launch it somewhere far away and be done with it. Enjoy Golden Age 2. The Darkness is the Travelers mortal enemy after all not humanities so it figures it'd follow the traveller.
-
Figure out how to turn the respawn off first.
-
Zerg rush everything. See how they like it.

Edited by Thunda_Punk: 8/7/2014 1:26:36 AMWe'd have to pull off a desperate offensive, Cayde-6 as the Hunter Vanguard would have much to provide on the vast terrain. He'd be appointed to form a special ops team with half top ranking crucible guardians and the other half guardians that have survived raids on planets beyond earth. The two separate teams insight will provide the strength behind the vanguard's own cunning and knowledge. Their task would be to attack from the enemy flank, and spread out using the terrain to break the enemies footing and then my army will rush in and drive the rest out.

Air superiority seems to be popular but our guardians still haven't completed their flight school training....
-
Basing how many guardians we have off of what was posted in the bungie update we could split the guardians into 3 different groups with literally millions in each group. One group would be used as builders along with civilians to use their ghosts to turn useless junk from outside and inside the city into parts or pieces (since the ghosts have the ability to repurpose material from when he gives you armor). They would take these parts and would be used to start building anti air armaments, vehicular shuttles, and outpost defenses that would then be brought out to the fringes of the city so after the areas around have been cleared can be moved out to create defendable outposts not only from ground troops but from aerial attacks too. This group in tandem with the group of guardians tasked with eliminating all life outside of the city would be able to start spreading out more and more while the third group is able to stay behind guarding the city from an chances of direct retaliation. That's the one thing to me that seems to be why they never gain any ground back is that there's almost no protection from enemy ships that come into the atmosphere.
-
I personally think the fallen as a hive mind, it would take serious strategy to pull this off. Unless the guardian's hit first, fast, and hard.
-
It's kind of hard to develop strategies against enemies that you know nothing about. Just saying... gime a couple of run-thrus of the story and some Grimoire first and then i'll get back to you.
-
Tell people to report to my cabin immediately to bang & bang as many aliens as I can.
-
Babies. Make lots of babies.
-
Try and get rid of the traveller. It would svae earth ANNNND get the fallen away from us
-
Put huge rockets on the tower, and all the guardians would leave earth and take back mars, leave the citizens to die.
-
Build a Death Star.
