-blam!-ing misanthropy, there's nothing I hate more than someone who says stuff like 'humanity is total shit blah blah blah'. Humanity has the capacity for evil but also for incredible good. For every beheading news story you also hear about someone who has altruistically done something to better the world. That's the beauty of sentient free will. It may one day be our species' end, but without it there wouldn't be anything to end at all.
-
So are you saying humanity is complete shit because half of these people wanna save their pet or because the other half wants to save the stranger?
-
Edited by TK129: 9/2/2014 10:38:54 PMThis is a very poor example as to why humanity is shit. There are many better examples, the best of which are too controversial for the internet. However, I would definitely save my pet. Whatever animal it may be, I would have responsibility to save it because if it can't swim, that isn't my pet's fault. It just didn't learn it because maybe it never experienced deep water before, or it's an animal that evolutionarily has never been able to swim (I'm humouring the idea that an animal couldn't swim, most can). Whereas, unless this human stranger was a young child who hadn't had chance to learn to swim properly yet (if so there would be a parent or carer around, surely), they should be able to swim. It is not my fault if they didn't take the time to learn as it's an important skill for survival. Plus if they can't swim, they're an idiot for getting themselves into a situation where they might end up in deep water without any safeguard. Any kind of idiot does not deserve to be saved in such a situation. To summarise: a pet is your responsibility, of course you'd save them. Idiocy is the foundation that makes humanity so shit. It is the sole reason for most of our drawbacks. It is merely compounded by various other characteristics such as greed. Logic will out.

Pets are an extension of the family, the thread is basically asking people to choose between a member of their family or a random stranger. Did you really expect people to let their cherished pet die to save some random meatbag?
-
That thread... Edge is love, edge is life!
-
But humanity made Destiny...
-
If I had to choose between my dog and you I would most definitely pick my dog.

Edited by Rogue4Lyfe: 8/30/2014 7:59:05 PMpeople like who, who complain about humanity yet do nothing about it are the reason humanity is shit
The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. ~ Einstein
-
The butthurt is real.
-
So by that logic, everyone should save the pet then. Considering humanity is shit and all. Not sure what youre complaining about.
-
Actual reason humanity is complete shit
Kidz Bop
-
Dude, of all the reasons to prove that humanity is complete shit, you use that? Obviously most of the people saying their pet are just -blam!-ing around and it is because they're on the internet. You must be new to the internet cause the internet brings out alot worse in people... and their horrible trolling skills.
-
Wait, I stepped in an attention whore thread, didn't I? Nice bait title bro.
-
Why not just use logic?
-
Well, it is.........but that thread isn't the reason.......
-

-
Why, because some people disagree with your opinion?
-
Neither, let them both die.
Your intellectual shortcomings make you think I am not smart because my logical and intellectual prowess is to great for you to understand

to great
LOL. After all that shit talking about all of his grammar. This is gold.

Bah... those theoretical questions where you have to "choose" you wanna save... what you wanna accomplish with such a question? When confronted with a situation where someone or something (if I may be so rude to call a dog a "thing") is drowning, most people will jump in and try to help, even if they are not the best at swimming. And I think this one of the beautiful things about humanity, sure we can be assholes, especially here on the internet, but in reality things aren't that bad....
-
Both cause it would be dumb to just watch either drown.
-
If my dog was drowning, I would have to save him. My dog is a part of my family, what makes somebody think that some random human is more important than my dog who is a part of my family ? In the end, we both are living creatures who mean the same, leave the same mark on the world, but one of those creatures in specific is more important to me than the other... This is like asking if I would save my mom, or some random dude that I know nothing about...
-
I have emotional ties/feelings with my pet whom I cherish abundantly. Saving this random person would likely yield far more guilt as opposed to not saving an extended member of my family. I would choose my pet. Humans overpopulate the planet as it is.
-
A lot of people I know say I'm the nicest person I know, I've never been in a fight with anyone because I keep aggression in, I love to help people with things, and I'm never mean. I think to others I'm a pretty nice good person. I'd save my pet.
-
Hmmm. Depends. A pet. Or a stranger. Lets strip off the guise of a stranger. Lets look at this simply as a human being, a member of your race. He/she has probably lead somewhat decent life, possibly similar to your own. Put yourself in their shoes. Then you have the pet. Again, lets strip the title and simply look at what it is. An animal. A dog or cat, maybe a hamster that has existed in its life to live with you. But this dog/hamster has no mental capacity to do something innovative or good, or something negative or bad that a human could do. It all boils down to how you look at the world. Are you choosing between a pet and a stranger, or a human and an animal?
-
It's because you exist, OP.
