Destiny needs an epic weather system. We had some sick thunder storms in Southeastern Utah today, and it got me thinking. Wouldn't it be amazing to stalk a patrol of Fallen warriors through the jungles of Venus during a heavy rainstorm? Visibility would be poor, you would be able to see the rain running down your visor. Water would be dripping from the trees and buildings. It would all be very atmospheric, no?
Here's another one. You get caught in a blinding sandstorm on the surface of Mars. You can barely see where you are going, when you stumble upon a Cabal unit taking cover in the shell of an old building. You look at them, they look at you. You then proceed to duke it out while you can barely see one another!
Okay, one last scenario. You are exploring the wilds of Earth at night. A menacing thunderstorm proceeds to roll overhead. It becomes quite dark, to the point where you have to use your Ghost's light and periodic flashes of lightning to keep your bearings. Then, as the wind howls through your cloak, Hive start to pour from every crevice. The once familiar landscape is transformed into a dark shadow of fear and darkness. As you struggle to survive, and are about to overwhelmed, you see another light peek over the crest of the hill. Another Guardian! Together you fend off the relentless enemy and retreat back to the safety of the Tower.
I'm just saying, weather would make familiar landscapes feel new, different, and exciting. Everything would become a hundred times more atmospheric and awesome, leaving players craving another chance to have another epic opportunity. If any one else has a cool weather situation you would like to share, feel free to do so! Let's see how many different ideas we can build up!

That would be awesome and maybe neutral animals throughout the map
-
Would be wondefull !
-
-
Isn't it windy on the Mars pvp map?
-
This would be SICK
-
Great idea but I don't think the older gen would handle it. Bump
-
This needs to be a thing!

Someone make this happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen this idea a few different times. It's really an awesome concept. Only time will tell, though. We'll have to wait and see what the full game holds for us. The beta was really limited in what was in it. Maybe weather will play a factor, but they didn't want to put it in the beta (either for server testing, secrecy, or other unknown reasons). Just gotta wait. But not a bad idea if we don't see this at first.

Edited by iMoonchildi: 8/5/2014 11:31:02 PMI don't think it has that kind of software I know frostbite is used for weather like in tom clancys the division but its already to late at this point. Great idea though :)

Awesome idea. Probably can't happen this late in development, but maybe the next Destiny will have this!
-
It sounds awesome. I have always wanted a game with weather like that. It changes the feel of the game, more dynamic.

Agree

Edited by GRIMSNIPER69: 8/5/2014 7:43:16 PMi like the idea and i would like to see a blizzard in old rusia that would be cool. lol pun intended
-
The PVP maps already have different weather versions.
-
Like the hell out of this so Bungie will see
-
Holy shit, great Idea!
-
It IS Old Russia, make it lightly snow 25% of the time, snow regularly 50% and -blam!-ing blizzard anither 25% of the time, making it hard to see, it'd be a hell of an immersion experience.
-
theres rain, and if you look up it drops on your visor, theres dark places and probably sandstorms on mars already..
-
What you probably don't know is that Destiny already HAS a Weather engine! In some of the earliest gameplay footage on Venus, it IS Raining! Oh There will be Weather!! I was at the Mothyards when I was in a light snow fall. Little white specks falling out of the sky. That was before the planned maintenance. That being said, that was the Only time I saw snow, or rain at The Tower in the Beta. I saw puddles at the Tower like it had rained, but never saw any rain... Maybe a slight tweak is in order?

You seem to have a love for low visibility there. But I would love weather.
-
I love the idea, I would like it if when you are exploring the weather change from time to time
