Destiny needs an epic weather system. We had some sick thunder storms in Southeastern Utah today, and it got me thinking. Wouldn't it be amazing to stalk a patrol of Fallen warriors through the jungles of Venus during a heavy rainstorm? Visibility would be poor, you would be able to see the rain running down your visor. Water would be dripping from the trees and buildings. It would all be very atmospheric, no?
Here's another one. You get caught in a blinding sandstorm on the surface of Mars. You can barely see where you are going, when you stumble upon a Cabal unit taking cover in the shell of an old building. You look at them, they look at you. You then proceed to duke it out while you can barely see one another!
Okay, one last scenario. You are exploring the wilds of Earth at night. A menacing thunderstorm proceeds to roll overhead. It becomes quite dark, to the point where you have to use your Ghost's light and periodic flashes of lightning to keep your bearings. Then, as the wind howls through your cloak, Hive start to pour from every crevice. The once familiar landscape is transformed into a dark shadow of fear and darkness. As you struggle to survive, and are about to overwhelmed, you see another light peek over the crest of the hill. Another Guardian! Together you fend off the relentless enemy and retreat back to the safety of the Tower.
I'm just saying, weather would make familiar landscapes feel new, different, and exciting. Everything would become a hundred times more atmospheric and awesome, leaving players craving another chance to have another epic opportunity. If any one else has a cool weather situation you would like to share, feel free to do so! Let's see how many different ideas we can build up!

This is a great idea I would personally love it

What about truly military equipment: FLIR, low light/night vision in our helmets, HUD, grappling hook( Zelda had hookshot, not to mention batman, bobba fett, and Obi Wan has one and current militaries have them)? Yes we fo need weather and seasons snow, flowers blooming, leaves being blown around and are slippery when wet. Why the same clouds day and night...could be a result of the Traveler, maybe?

Edited by MANUREBOMB: 2/20/2015 9:58:58 PMA bunch of friends and i were talking about this the other day. Only if bungie would ever follow through with this great idea. #FEEDBACK

just posted something similar, now i see this. Bump!
-
I agree. Weather should be implemented.
-
Wow, that's a brilliant idea! So simple, yet so effective! Bungie really should think about it. But well... I don't think that we're the first ones thinking about weather effects and stuff like that. I guess there's two options: 1) due to some internal arguments / reasons they scratched weather effects from their schedules 2) they will implement it with updates post-launch But I think it'll take quite a long time to do so, otherwise they would've put them into the game in the first place
-
Buump this all the way too the developers!
-
-
They could probably only do it on next gen
-
This deserves any number of drinks. On me. Im buying.
-
that would be so cool....like the weather could be another form of public events
-
This dudes awesomw, bump great idea

Destiny would kick some serious butt with day and night cycles, weather system and some wild life wandering here and there. The planets overall look empty and lifeless.
-
Naturally I have always loved rain and darker weathering events in games. Especially mmos as it gets more of the realistic feel. Definitely a great idea.
-
That would be sweet, especially if they could make it look really real like uplay does on their assassins creed games. Can u imagine going through Venus is the when it is pitch black in the middle of a rain storm?? All of a sudden, u see a fallen vandel come over a hill and all u can see is his glowing eyes. Then a flash of lightning and he is surrounded by an army of vandels, captains, and dregs... exciting!
-
That is the most -blam!-ed idea ever what is wrong with you?
-
They already have weather its just not very noticeable, I agree with you though they should make it so there are hardcore storms. I was also thinking if they added some kind of beast that you can hunt.
-
I agree. Weather would add a new perspective to how players play the game. If on Mars for example; a massive dust storm hits. What do you do? Find shelter and wait out the storm? Or fight your way through it? Another idea to ponder about. What if there were special enemies linked to the weather outbreaks? Like during a thunderstorm on Earth, out of nowhere appears this gigantic Hallowed Ogre encased in lightning? Would you run? Or would you team up with your fellow guardians to take it down?
-
This is probably the best idea I've heard so far, scratch that, it IS the best idea. Kudos
-
On Mars there could be dust storms and being underground or inside would be more effective or it getting pitch black on earth with a storm brewing and enemies start to get desperate and more violent.
-
Bumpity. There was a light snowfall in parts of Old Russia it was quite pitiful though. I would love to see some epic weather. Space weather
-
I agreed it would be pretty dope to have weather effects. I think each plant has there own effect however.
-
I think that adding weather is a great idea, but keep in mind that it has a real time sky, so if you want darkness, play it later in the day
-
I'm pretty sure weather has been confirmed. Thought I heard it in an interview.
