I feel ya on being screwed out of the GI bill and benefits they said it's a condition not a disability. Got out under general under honorable conditions as well in 03 but so miss it. Now a dad and still carry my marine corp pride to this day 11 yrs out.

SLiM, keep in mind though, our boys want to carry on the tradition. I know it's no where near the same, but maybe we'll end up with some little Marines! :) I think our daughter is the one that will for sure go in though! Bwah ha ha! She's a bad-ass already! lol! ;)

It was my dream. Of course I still miss it. I am 23 years old. Enlisted at 17! It's the only lifestyle I am used to, as an adult.
-
You will always miss it, a sad fact I have learned over the past 11 years. If I didn't have kids and a wonderful wife by my side I would go through hell just to put on my uniform and be in a fox hole with my brothers in arms one last time.

I've been out of the Corps 20 years. I miss almost everything about life as a Marine. I miss the guys I served with, those friendships and esprit-de-corps. It's not until one runs into a fellow Marine after discharge that you realize what your D.I.s told you was true: "Once you've earned the title Marine and EGA you are part of a brotherhood that extends well past your active duty time and is a fraternity that encompasses all Marines; active, retired, or guarding Heaven's Scenes." Once a Marine, Always a Marine. From another 03, Semper Fi.
