Im not joking for the love of god make snipers heavy weapons as seen in the crucible people tend to use the snipers and just camp the gun is already basically a one shot kill and the special ammo is all over the place so its not like they're running out anytime soon I just want to say make it a heavy weapon i feel like it'd be more fitting for that kind of weapon and frankly they're super annoying in crucible someone's gotta agree with me right?

I thought the Sniper was actually very well designed. Between the targeting laser, the changes to how abundant special ammo is from the Alpha, and the general tunnel vision of being in scope, I felt like I could anticipate and deal with multiple snipers, even on an open map like the Moon. Making it a Heavy weapon would absolutely kill it, not only does the Sniper not have the abillity to deal out destruction as quickly as the Heavy Machine Gun and the Rocket Launcher, it would someone kill the fantasy if maybe you get 8 shots once or twice a match and that's it.

I have never had a problem killing snipers. Whether flanking them with my shotgun or out shooting them with my primary
-
Snipers are still skill based weapons. If Snipers were not specials then everyone would have a shotgun and that would be even worse.
-
Weird... I never got sniped. Oh wait that's right, I didn't put myself in a situation TO get sniped
-
OMG. First, learn to use some anti-sniper tactics. Cover, concealment, etc. Get someone in on them and they won't CAMP anymore. NO real sniper camps. Too dangerous. One to two shots then move. Two. Try some punctuation. Can't tell if it's one sentence or lots.
-
A Sniper can one-shot anything. A Shotgun can one-shot anything. It works.
-
Thid is very debatable. Idc really what slot the sniper is in but I definitely think the handcannon shouldnt be a primary but a special weapon but more powerful since it already lacks ammo.

Edited by fifthderelicte: 8/7/2014 12:53:30 AMI think you touched on what makes this an issue. Specials are one shot kill weapons in their sphere of dominance. But they practically act like primary weapons in the sense that there is no need to conserve their ammo. Take some of the special ammo spawns away and/or significantly extend their respawn time. At the moment, it's easy to get max ammo in the first 60 seconds of the game. OR, you could also add the special ammo going away when you die. That wouldn't solve the issue of ammo camping, but it may be another fun feature to add. Less sniper may also mean more usefulness for the scout rifle, which I never saw in game. While this is particularly bad with snipers, the same thing happens with shotguns. You never have to think twice about using your shotgun because you're overloaded with ammo constantly.

All you would be doing by making snipers heavy ammo is a guaranteed one shot kill no matter what. I mean after all heavy weapons are suppose to be stronger and can only obtain the ammo a small amount of the time if you can even keep it. And then we would only have shotguns as secondary and that would be boring. And 90% of the time if a sniper misses their chance on me I found them cause of the glow and making my way around the map to kill them (and not straight at them since that's begging them to shoot me in the face). So far I would say moon map is where snipers get the most range on people trying to close in on them . In that case use a vehicle and don't drive in a straight line lol and shoot them up when you get close . Or whip out your sniper find a counter point and headshot them.

Im for sniper rifles being a heavy slot for a specific reason: not enough variety. Give snipers on shot headshot and a chance to kill in one shot body shots, and they are a good balance with heavy weapons. Then you can move the hand cannon to the special slot, give it more range and a one shot headshot bonus, give it a little more kick, then Bam! A long, medium, and short range option in every slot, the hand cannon has a home hes competitive with, and at this point all primaries are rifles. I feel this would be a better balanced spread for bungie to work numbers with, and overall it would provide a variety of weapon setup choices. I know the snipers out there would be upset, but you would have the hnad cannons as a pocket sniper, scout rifle as a long range menace, and the sniper as a heavy that destroys from a distance. Maybe up the snipers damage vs vehicles a bit, turn aim assist up a little, and viola! A heavy weapon that looks, sounds, feels, and most importantly is a viable heavy weapon choice. Plus a bonus as the hand cannon being long range, as i think it should be, with a high skill cap, due to no largely magnified scope. Further out, the more skill required. If you dont agree with me, please state why. Not just "i dont like it". Lets talk balance here people. Open your minds a bit to the fact that sniping shouldnt be THAT common, much like in halo. Yes, i know this isnt halo, but its very similar. I think sniping is legit when used properly, this method would force you to use your bullets carefully, meaning you have to make them count. We have all experienced the sniper sitting in the scrap yard on the outside of the moon map, and realized some of the time he isnt actually helping his team objectively. Weve all sniped a captain in the face and one shot him in pve. They have a heavy feel to them. Lets let them be powerful. These sniping montages would be that much more badass. Plus, we would really be gaining out of this, because lets face it, the scout ouclasses the hand cannon as it is. If the hand cannon moved to special, it would be outclassed by the sniper. Now this way everything will have its own strengths and weaknesses.

Edited by Koldraxon: 8/6/2014 2:20:17 PMI agree, only if they put the LMG in the special slot (albeit with degradation of damage to be fair, dependant on weapon's accuracy, etc...) to accept exchange. In addition, they should add some kind of 'flamer' or other weapon to heavy weapons (flamers, Needlers, other-species guns, etc...). What do you think? Hand cannons should be usable in both primary and special, but rely on primary ammo. Also, you can't have two hand-cannons equipped simultaneously. Even better idea, why don't we just delete gunslinger Hunters all together. You might as well if you don't let them have snipers.
-
I agree with this. I enjoyed those guns in beta but like a lot of other fps games I always feel like it's a cheap shot when I'm in the shit swinging knifes and reloading and some guy kills me from across the map. Don't get me wrong, I understand that is the roll of a sniper type class but I have always wondered how it could be nerfed just a little. By making the ammo less available it would bring map edge campers into the fight more. I don't think it would be bad on quality players who are capable with all weapons.
-
Personally I think they should add an anti-materiel rifle as a heavy, but moving the sniper is a very bad move, especially when sniping is key to a lot of people's playstyles
-
Rocket Launcher... fire, explodes, pretty much kills all in the wake. Machine gun,... fire, spray across an area, if it doesn't kill, takes a good amount of damage. Sniper Rifle... shoot, better hit them in the head to get that 1 shot death. If not, you may be seen and killed yourself or simply lose the kill after they go out of sight. Also, you don't get a ton of ammo so, you will have to get up and get more. If they made sniper rifles a heavy weapon, why not make all rifles heavy?
-
All the special weapons are the same in this regard. The sniper is no different to the shotgun etc
-
It wouldn't be that fair for someone who wants to snipe if they were considered a heavy weapon. The ammo drops are what, once every 3 minutes? And they dropping the ammo upon death. Wouldn't really attract many people to use the sniper rifle. At least not me. I too hate getting sniped by somebody on the outskirts of the map but its something you have to deal with. Its always been in shooting games.
-
Prepare your self.... there is an Exotic Sniper which make the guy who use it "invisible"
-
Imma just leave a comment to come back to later. I wanna hear people's opinions and reasons on both sides of this.
