"No raid matchmaking? Wow, that's dumb'
" Do you expect me to find 5 people at the same time to play?"
The fact of the matter is, raids aren't for everyone. If you want to play a raid, but are distraught by the fact that there isn't any matchmaking, raids just might not be for you. Raids, from what I understand, require planning. Not planning during the raid, but planning outside of it. Raid teams need to talk over strategies outside of the game and implement those strategies when they delve into a raid again. If you can't do those things, or they sound superfluous, maybe raids just aren't for you.
The type of communication described above is simply not possible with matchmaking. How are supposed to progress farther into the raid if there's a possibility of your teammate(s) has/have never done a raid?
If you want to play a raid, but you don't have 5 other people to play, you can always join a clan! That's exactly why Bungie integrated clans into Bungie.net and dedicated an entire forum to them.
Before I end this thread, I'd like to address one more thing. To all of you who might say "Oh, we could find players during the raid and invite them." How likely are you to find a good raiding team in matchmaking if all of the good raiders are raiding with their friends/clan?

Someone needs to pin this topic and make it required reading before making a post containing the word "raid".
