one of the things i noticed is that most the time an item dropped for me it was from another players kill. i even decided to experiment with this and would often just sit in the middle of a battle and allow other guardians to kill the beasts. in doing this i noticed that the creatures would still drop items for me even though i did nothing to contribute...
how is a trade mechanic that requires near equal items to be offered for the trade to go threw rewarding players that do nothing more then this drop mechanic?
if you dont want trade thats fine i can understand that. but dont use the "it rewards lazy players arguments" when there are other factors in place like exp share and this silly drop system, as well as the randomly giving items to players in the crucible.

Yeah, I don't get the random item drop in Crucible, makes it feel like I'm at the casino. I do very good... nothing, I do bad.. nothing, in between... nothing. Then bam, after several games something. Then I have clanmates that got back to back drops... so wth? As for PvE... I kinda get it, but hard to see the logic in a player getting a drop if they didn't even put one hit on an NPC. Could be based on proximity so that other players are just hogging all the "farming NPCs", but still as you say, could encourage laziness. *shrugs*
