Proximity chat was accessed through the D-pad in halo and it makes even more sense to have it in this game.
So I am asking, what should be removed so that proximity chat can be added????
Lets obviously keep Dancing
-
They could just make it so u have to hold down on the d pad for a second or two
-
Gonna put my point into pointing being removed. Although I would vote for having a submenu for emotes bound to a certain D-pad button which would something like the following
Press Up on D-pad to open Emote menu L1 = Wave - L2 = Point R1 = Sit - R2 = Dance
Then we could have the proximity chat AND some other possible mechanics on the other buttons
-
Remove sitting wtf is the point in that
-
For ps4 they could utilize the touchpad. They could change the emotes to directional swipes on the touchpad. This would free up the D pad for more important things

Edited by Kilo: 8/1/2014 11:30:00 PMProximity chat is talking to people you are close to. You're talking about push to talk. Halo 2 had both. You had to push the white button to talk but if you were close to people, even people on the other team, they could hear you without having to push to talk. Halo 3 only had push to talk for large teams. Most of the time you could talk if your mic was on. No proximity chat in Halo 3. For Destiny it should be Proximity chat for PvE and just regular chat (or Halo 2 style proximity chat) for PvP. No push to talk.
-
Wave initiates the chat and I support you!!!
-
Or you could maybe even press and hold wave? I dunno.
-
how 'bout keep everything as is. :O
-
I wouldn't remove anything, I would use swiping the touch pad to bring up a keyboard or voice chat request.
-
Why even tie it to a button? Just have it active, with a menu option "proximity voice on/off". If it's on, you can hear others, if it's off you can't. And for speaking, my generic out of the box xbox headset has a mute button so i can choose to talk or not - I'm sure these other third party headsets gage the same function. Then when you join a fireteam you go into team chat, with an option in your menu to switch between team and proximity voice.
-
I used pointing to tell a dude to wait a second because my fireteams members controller died and he understood. It was awesome!

Edited by MSG ANIMOTAKU: 7/28/2014 10:27:12 PMMake pressing D-pad up open a social wheel of emotes. Then that leaves right, left, and down for other options. Like down for proximity chat. Buttons were just examples by the way, use whatever. Point is, nothing has to be removed.

Why not just right click when near a guardian (like we already can) and select prox chat through a menu? No need to get rid of any emote. And honestly, dancing should go before any of the other three.
-
yep, at least during live events
-
Or have it automatically broadcast to anyone near you. Saves you a button press
-
lol bumpers and triggers are for shooting grenading, melee, pimppp

Where is the "no" vote? That is my vote.

Why does proxy chat in Destiny have to copy the proxy chat of Halo? Halo was not the only game ever made with proxy chat.
