It's not a major problem that needs to be dealt with right away, or at all. I simply have some trouble seeing items such as ammo and look when it drops from enemies. It's especially difficult when it hides in their corpses and bodies of water. Perhaps their glow could be brighter it it could have a pillar of it's color above it, similar to Borderlands 2. It could also be shown on the radar-tracker-thing.
