The Greats:
-Story and free roam areas
- The Tower, almost everything there is awesome, and it is clear that this is where all thecool people go to hang out.
- Gameplay. Everything works, and nothing feels like it is obtuse, save for what is listed below.
- PvE It is great this exists, because sometimes I really don't want to deal with besting other people on a leaderboard. The PVE and respawning in this game thus far make farming and loot-hunting far more barable than several MMOs.
- Public events These allow random teamwork and show the potential players have when forming up for a common cause.
- Randomized chests
- Upgrade ability of uncommons on.
These are things that, after experiencing the Beta are things that truly stand out as diamonds in the video-game rough. These really could carry the game by themselves, and anything added or fixed from below will make this game worth not only the game, but buying a new console for.
Unfortunately, not all is well in the realm of Destiny. I'd like to preface this list of grievances with the fact that I know it is a beta, but I'm finding "Beta" to be less and less of an acceptable excuse. I still have fond memories of the Battlefield 4 beta, where serious problems were found and reported. When These were addressed on the forums, they were met with cries of "It's a beta!!1!" We can all see how that turned out.
Grievances:
-In PvE, Difficulty ramps up insanely fast in areas where Bungie doesn't want players to go. Now, from a beta perspective, this is fine. However, this cannot remain in the final game. The difficulty jump from 8-?? (aka 20) is not acceptable, and I should expect that the curve only ramp up in areas that take longer to get to.
-The motion tracker is awkwardly sized and placed. The motion tracker is too small and very far out of the way in comparison to the rest of the player's UI. I find myself having to look away from the center of the screen to actually look at the top corner, and if the person comes around the corner then, I cannot react as effectively.
-Tower is a majority of teaser and most of it's features can't be unlocked until the ripe level of 20. Very few of the vendors or NPC's are willing to do anything for you until then, which makes me feel as though the tower might repel new players with it's lack of stuff for anyone under the 20 mark.
-Loot chests are sometimes awkwardly placed and can seem like space magic is keeping them floating on places like rocks where gravity should have long ago brought the hammer down.
-Loot Chests despawn rather quickly, and often before another member of the fireteam can get to it. I think that they should last until no player is watching it, allowing member of the fireteam to get to the chest.
-Lack of mic use. I understand this is in every game, but in a game that requires teamwork for a multitude of things, I can seldom hear anyone using a mic. Most people are hiding in parties and other such places, which hampers how well one could make new friends or communicate with public players
-End-game reprimands make me want to stop playing Crucible rather than inspire me to continue. Being told that we did horribly after just loosing 20000 to 9000 does not encourage me or bolster my self esteem to make me try harder, if anything, it makes me upset and frustrated.
-Shotguns seem to have a pretty far 1-hit kill range. It is somewhere between Halo's shotgun and Battlefield's shotguns. I would prefer it be more like Halo's.
-Snipers in PvP seem mostly useless, as a good scout rifle can headshot players at the same range with a better ammo economy, as well as fire faster. They do seems to have a good anti-vehicle roll, oddly enough (possibly a good thing.)
-Glimmer seems to only be viably achievable but loot looping versus enemy farming, excepting, of course, ether seed usage.
