I love the day night cycle , but it think Bungee missed a trick with the night time.
Imagine the sense of foreboding as you see the sun setting, knowing that the higher level Hive masters are going to be out in numbers, and that the darkness will cover the land making visibility limited without your ghost light.
Will you survive the night or succumb to the darkness....
-
They are called the darkness yet they hide at night?
-
Bumpity YES.
-
Let me just bump this

Edited by qy: 8/7/2014 8:01:00 AMRight. With the lack of light pollution (considering there are no lights,) it should realistically be far darker at night, and the skies brighter. Keep in mind that bungie is based in the Seattle area. In a city. With lots of lights. They might not have even thought about it.

I don't think the night should be so dark that you need the Ghost's light (unless you go into a cave). I do agree on more enemies and the hive coming out. The hive thrive in the dark, so it fit the lore.
-
I don't know about you guys, but it's kind of hard for me to tell that it's nighttime.
-
And let's have zombies and ghouls and things that go bump in the night appear...
-
and spawn more creatures of the darkness, that would be dope
-
Dying light has that idea already
-
Just turn down your TVs brightness.
-
Also the enemies could get in bigger and larger mobs and higher levels per minute
-
Then there should be helmets with night vision.
-
Nightfall patrols where there it is dark
-
Ok for harder enemies (on patrol only maybe?) but not agreeing with the darker part. Stuff is hard enough to see in some areas especiallt when rmote playing on vita.
-
Seriously if bonnie (from five nights at Freddie's) doesn't walk past my screen by next week I'm leaving
not serious
-
Sparrows with floodlights? Or any big light on the front. Thatd be awesome with this
-
85%!?? Yes!! Soooo bump. Id love to see a harder version of patrols AND a dark night combined, where do i sign up?
-
-
Like enemies would become harder and have smarter ai become more aggressive and less dumb
-
Perfect idea, man. It really seems fitting now that October is here too.
-
And the enemies should be tougher since they thrive in darkness!
-
-blam!-ing genius!

Edited by ChaosBlossom: 10/4/2014 8:27:17 PMSince we as Guardians as suppose to be fighting the darkness and as it stands right now we are on the losing side of that battle it would make good sense that the darkness should be more prevalent, the player should feel like they are caught up in something that is overwhelming them. I like the idea of having more enemies at night or higher level ones but I can see that this could cause issues for new and low level players. So how about we be allowed to select an alternative patrol option with a modifier like 'Guardian's Light' with this modifier whenever night comes (or all the time if you really want to push the whole universe consumed by darkness idea) the player receives a debuff of 10% to 20% to all damage they deal whilst the enemy get a 10% to 20% buff to all damage they deal. This is essentially the same modifier that is applied when low level players face higher level enemies, but would be active in this mode regardless of the enemies level. Given how this game works mechanically this modifier would also end up stacking with that of the level difference damage modifier meaning higher level enemies would probably one shot you. Regardless of whether this is a good idea or not I think the darkness needs to be used more in the game rather than just in darkness zones for restricting respawns and activating mission specific modifiers (even though yes technically that's what my suggestion is). EDIT: I forgot the modifier would also offer a 5% to 10% increase to xp earned for kills (kills only) because the guardian is successfully pushing back against the darkness with each one.

For the night is dark and full of terrors.
Please tell me I'm not the first.
-
We all have helmets on, presumably with some type of low light amplification.
-
Very much agreed. Harder enemies and only your flashlight (switch on and off) to rely on during nighttime would be a very cool addition and it would make for more variety - makes you inherently more cautious, etc. If Bungie could do something with the night time cycles similar to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games that would be fantastic! To anyone that's ever played Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl or Call or Pripyat, you know what I'm talkin' bout ;) Only the brave, the foolhardy or the higher level players go out alone into the wilderness at night!
