This has probably turned into one of my biggest dislikes of the game. I have loved the gameplay. Loved the team action in fire teams. Loved the exploring, but something that has really stifled my gameplay is seeing a ledge that I know I can get to only to be stopped by an invisible ceiling. Please take that out. If you don't want me to reach something then put it out of my double jump range. Don't put an invisible ceiling. So please take that out.

Edited by TheShorterBus : 7/23/2014 6:58:46 PMthis has happened to me a few times, and I hate to say it, but it is someting if find almost inexcusable in today's AAA titles. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound entitled, just feel that there is always a way to avoid it, either through design, or a few hours more work creating collision of some sort. That said it's not the end of the world, just jarring too see nowadays.

Edited by Level_Unknown: 7/24/2014 7:39:36 AMI know what you mean, when you have the second tier jump for the Titan all you hit are barriers that really mess up your fun.
-
i agree with you. i wanted to climb on top of the broken bridge in the first part of the map, and snipe from there. i was so happy as i was climb up to get there, but when i hit the invisible ceiling my heart just broke.
-
I also can't even climb a mountain ;( and guardian born not to swim too
-
Agreed! I thought it would be fun to work my way up to the roof of a building, then jumping through a broken area and fall behind the enemy in a surprise attack! ...nope. ceiling as well as invisible walls prevented my sneakyness..

So I guess to be completely clear. I agree there needs to be restriction of some kind. I can see not wanting to let me get to the top of a mountain, and for the most part I have seen a pretty good design on making certain parts of the terrain impassible. Good job there. I can see putting a turn back now warning if I get too far out into the water, getting towards the edge of the map. I can also see making things too high for me to jump to. I think that is smart design, and should be continued. I understand that there are limitations on hardware and not being able to render too much at the same time. I disagree with what has been mentioned about the extra ram needed to open up some of those levels a little more. The biggest thing with the ram is having to render and keep those textures in your video memory and process them. If I can get on top of a building, see that everything is rendered just fine and it still gives me the turn back now warning even though I am well within the playable area is what I don't agree with. I hate to compare, just because I know that different game engines are just that, different. Infamous has a very detailed open world with no invisible ceiling. Just cause 2 has a massive and detailed open world that allows you to go thousands of feet in the air. There are limits somewhere, I know there are, but you can't really tell where they are. I am only saying this to clarify my point. I just think are are better ways to restrict movement. More natural feeling ways. Less obvious ways that will actually add to the immersive qualities of the game.

Agree

Awee wahhhh. WHO CARES. There's nothing of interest up there so why does it matter?

Edited by Daniel Romney: 7/25/2014 8:17:28 PMHere is my video of the phenomenon. I was able to get on top of the building. I somehow pushed the invisible ceiling enough to get me up there, then got the turn back now warning. I think this seems a odd in a game like this. I don't see why you would feel to need to restrict my movement that much. Please Please Please take out the ceiling and the turn back now. just open it up and find another way to restrict my movement that seems natural.

you reached the limit of the space for that level. Nothing much more to say. Remove it means increasing the map size and probably getting problems with old gen console's RAM
-
Whatever happened to "if you can see it, you can go there"?
-
I completely agree. I hope this is just a beta issue and movement will be unrestricted in the full game.
-
Totally agree
-
Yup I agree
-
I am betting it is just there for the beta.
-
Agree, same thing goes for the turn back now message you get. I jumped on top of a mountain to go explore in some snowy area only to be greeted with that message. I'm hoping its only like that for the beta and not in the full game.

Edited by Daniel Romney: 7/23/2014 5:11:42 PMI mean , isn't the point of an open world unrestricted movement? Like I said, if you don't want me to go somewhere, make it impossible for my to reach with either terrain, walls, or something physically visible/impassible. Don't have an invisible wall or the turn back now warning. I have hit the turn back now warning once and it also was like a dagger in my side. Where it really got me was in the old russia, I jump into the explore part and start to head over the the divide section. You know, the place where you originally found your ship. So I am still in the main old russia section of the map, and heading up the stair to go into the building. I saw that the ceiling of the building was blown out and thought, you know what, that would be an awesome vantage point to snipe the fallen hanging around the field with the downed ship. I start climbing/jumping up only to be met by the invisible ceiling. Talk about a disappointment. I was well within my double jump range.

I hate it as well and would like to see it removed.
