As I’m sure the topic of should player’s characters carryover from the beta is kicking around over at Bungie, I thought I would throw out my two cents [not that it really matters!]
As my main character, I have now invested some amount of hours simply exploring all of the cosmodrone.
It was quite rewarding being able to play in such a large area, especially with the whole “if you can see it, you can get there” sort of approach. All of the hidden caves and chests all over the place, the dead ghosts, and lets not forget the golden chests. The fun adventures I had trying to sneak past the ?? guys on the other side of the strike zone. Or that “holy shit” moment, when I got absolutely destroyed by the ?? guy protecting the chest. Finding him totally by accident, was a great moment of exploration for me, and I can only hope to have tons more of those moments in the full game.
All that being said, “been there, done that” --- I don’t think it’s necessary for me to go through it again … nor will I have those “aww” inspiring moments a second time around.
I surely didn’t when I started an alt.
For that reason alone, I would push to have characters carryover.
My 2 cents :)

I'd just like to have at least something crossover whether it's the currency, the equipment, just something.

Edited by Hoops: 8/18/2014 11:47:44 AMIm pretty sure the have decided to re-use the beta as the start of the game. And you get a shiny bunny rabbit emblem for being a good boy.

Edited by Jasondurgen: 8/17/2014 5:17:45 PMActually, they are transferring out beta character over. The Destiny Facebook page just wrote a post saying how A FEW are complaining about the beta not transferring over, so they decided that those few people are correct and they changed their minds. They said we'll have to start over from level 1, but we'll keep our gear, and everything we have in the vault. As well as Cryptarch levels, Crucible levels, and so on. I seen this post and about shit myself with excitement Did you catch it? ;)

Well in the full release you wont spend that much time in old russia

bungie confirmed that the progress won't be carried over. too bad QQ

As much as I would want to agree with you but what they said has been said. It is sad and unfortunate, yes but its probably for the best. Hey, look on the bright side, you get to experience it all on a full game with everything in it. Able to earn more than just a few handful of guns. Hell, you may get the Thunder Lord machine gun right off the bat! ...No, not really, that was a showcase weapon.

Yeah I sympathize with you about how some moments won't have that unexpected shock value the second time you experience it. I'm also sad I won't be able to access the higher level gear I earned sooner and that I'll have to earn it back. Bungie did confirm no character or gear carryover in their last news update. The silver lining to this though is that my best gamer friend wasn't able to play with me in the beta because he was on PS3 and I was on PS4. However come launch day he'll have gotten his PS4 and we'll be able to team up again. I mainly like to go solo through the story missions's so I can level quickly, but it'll be nice to experience playing Destiny with someone I have such good cooperation with while playing. It'll be its own flood of first time experiences.

Umm... probably better to start from scratch anyway.
