After playing the game and hitting the level 8 cap on all three of the classes I have one really big suggestion that other MMO's have done a really good job of implementing.
I would highly suggest making 3 different starting areas. One for either each of the races, or each of the classes. The best way to do it would be one for each race. This would be really easy to accomplish with the current setup of planet Earth in the beta. Give each race a starting zone on the planet, one starts in Old Russia, one in Old England, and another in Old America. The names and locations of the areas can be changed for added effect, like say Old Venezuela and add in some ancient relics in some of the old temple ruins in the jungles.
I personally feel like just adding this one little squeeze of diversity among the races would deepen the lore and mythos of the game, and help to acclimatize the players to the back stories of the races thus giving them a sense of belonging and connection with the race they have chosen.
When each race passes the intro zones (which for me only lasted to level 6 at the latest) all races and stories will converge on the moon or other planets to bring the story together. Of course the Tower would still be a multi race zone no matter what race you are, but this would also give you the ability to add in some reputation with the different races so that a Human could gain favor with the Queen of the Awoken and get access to some special gear and items later in the game.
Also by doing this you could add special hidden bonuses (instead of JUST dead Ghosts) that explain why, say, as an Exo you were revived in Old England, or as an Awoken you were revived in Old Venezuela. Doing this would further deepen the understanding of each players race giving even more connection to their character as well as hinting at a bigger picture of the grandiose plan of the enemy factions.
For the Community, I would like to hear some feedback on my idea, maybe we can get enough interest in it from Bungie to make this happen.

Also, @Bungie I KNOW this is NOT an MMO. But the way you have the starting zone set up would benefit from taking ideas FROM other successful MMO's
