Hey everyone! Long time, no see! As you can see here, our good friend Camnator brought up the fact that a little missy Mary Jane is becoming legal.
So, I wanted to pass along a nice FAQ I found in regards to tourism and weeeeeed.
Do I have to be a resident to legally posess and use cannabis in Colorado?
-No.
-Anyone of age inside Colorado can possess up to an ounce on their person, and use it responsibly in private (see below for what "private" legally means).
Do I have to be a certain age to partake?
-Yes, no one under 21 is allowed to possess or use cannabis in Colorado under A-64. Medical marijuana is a different story, but you have to be a resident with a MMJ license in that case.
Can I buy weed in a store?
-No.
-Not yet. A-64 stores will not be able to open at least until 2014. Medical dispensaries will always ONLY be open to Colorado residents with medical cards. Also, non-residents of Colorado can only buy a maximum of 1/4 ounce of marijuana at a time when stores do open; it is not known how this will be regulated, however.
Can a resident sell me weed?
-No.
-A-64 only allows weed to be sold by approved stores which won't open until at least 2014. Anyone inside of Colorado can legally give anyone else up to one ounce of cannabis. Paying for weed is legal under a-64, but selling it privately is still illegal.
So I can't buy weed?
-You can buy it legally, but currently it is illegal for anyone to sell it to you until stores with licenses open.
So how can I get some weed?
-Meet some stoners, ask them politely for cannabis or where to get it.
Also, /r/Cotreegifting has a lot of generous people on it. Read the sidebar and start there. Also, don't be sketchy; cannabis is legal here, so you can openly talk to people about it, with nothing to be ashamed of. If you're sketchy about it (using code words, etc.), people are going to be sketched out by you.
No one will give me any weed! Where can I find it?
-I don't recommend or condone this, but craigslist has a lot of people illegally selling weed ("free weed, with a donation", etc.), purporting to be A-64 compliant. They're not, and this is illegal, but they're getting away with it for the time being. Also of note is that, legally, if you buy weed from someone, ONLY their ass is on the line; you can buy pot all day legally. Illegal to sell, legal to buy, how silly is that? Keep asking around otherwise, it's everywhere.
Can I just smoke it anywhere?
-No.
-Just like booze, you are only allowed to partake in private. Pot smoking falls under Colorado's Clean Indoor Air Act, meaning you can't light up in a bar, you can't light up outside, you can't light up in any public place or private place of business. You can smoke at home, and that's about it, legally speaking. Boulder is the only city thus far that has specifically legalized smoking pot in public view, but on private property, in every other city you must smoke in private, out of public view (meaning no smoking in your backyard if your neighbors can see it).
Can I drive around high?
-No.
-Legislation has dictated that 5 nanograms of THC per milliliter of blood is the "legal limit" for you to get a pot-DUI. How much is this? NOT MUCH, many "all-day-every-day" smokers are never below this limit. If you're pulled over and suspected to be high, they'll ask you for a blood test. LEGALLY YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE BLOOD, though refusing a blood test will result in losing your license for a year.
Can I smoke in my car or drive around with it in my car?
-No.
-Alcohol's open container law applies in this case. Basically, you're only allowed to keep or transport pot in your car if it is in your trunk or behind the last row of seats in the vehicle. Drivers and passengers are not allowed to consume marijuana in a car IF IT IS PARKED OR NOT. A joint is considered an open container unless it is in a factory-sealed package. Just keep your pot in your trunk.
Can I take my weed with me when I leave Colorado?
-Only the parts of it that are stuck to the inside of your lungs. This is all kinds of a federal crime, so LEAVE THE POT AT THE BORDER.
Thanks guys! Keep on toking, and I'll see you in the sky ;)
As always, positive vibes everyone. <3

I don't smoke, nor do I live in Colorado, but this was still interesting. Thanks.
