During Bungie Day yesterday, I spent some time going down memory lane looking up the various activities/celebrations we've had and stumbled upon the July 2008 reveal Bungie was planning for E3 that year (ODST) which was subsequently canceled by Microsoft.
I then found an old Weekly Update from April 25, 2008 where Frankie shares that Microsoft was hiring people to work on other aspects/future games of Halo at Microsoft Game Studios and it didn't involve Bungie as they were planning something for the near future (ODST) and then he wrote this . .
"Meanwhile, we're damn busy ourselves with a variety of projects underway within the studio including one that you'll be hearing more about in the very near future. Now that we control our own destiny we also have other longer term, top secret plans afoot. The wait for that may be a tad longer though."
My italics.
We are all aware of the Destiny poster in ODST, but has this reference been seen before? I thought it was a good find and thought I'd share it . . . if it hasn't been already.

I'm surprised by this. I would not have thought Frankie would leave Bungie for 343i while consciously knowing about Destiny. Guess he just really liked Halo and wanted to continue developing Halo games.

Here's another one.

Considering that Destiny would be the first project out of Microsoft's control, that actually makes a lot of sense.

Nice find, holy shit. And it really depresses me that all the unique banners for the old Weekly Updates have been replaced with the "Per Audacia Ad Astra" image. I used to remember which Weekly Updates were which based on their banner.

Nice work man!

That's actually pretty cool. Nice find.

Jason Jones dropped off the radar after Halo 2's launch, so it wouldn't surprise me if this has at least been in planning for close to a decade.

Destiny confirmed.

Edited by Kirov 099: 7/8/2014 1:56:10 PMThat certainly seems like it is referring to Destiny, and with the ODST hints its likely it is. Nice find. Makes me wonder what else they hid around here. Maybe we've been getting hints today about future stuff without even knowing it.
