I'm not sure if this link can be taken as gospel and that we really won't be able to name each individual character, but if that's the case and all my guardians will be called "Faceliss Man" and then "human male Titan level 7" I have a problem with that.
Bungie, Halo was great, playing as Masterchief aka John 117 was amazing, but that character had a name that was predestined for us all.
Activision, playing COD is awesome. In the solo campaign where play as military men within the story, but in multiplayer it doesn't matter what the characters name is, it's all about loadout and they are the representation of the gamer. In COD I WANT to be seen as Faceliss Man.
Destiny is an RPG, where you can create multiple characters, of different race and gender. Each one should not be named the same thing. Look at Skyrim, Dragon Age and World of Warcraft for examples. You can't give the option of creating multiple different characters and then not let us name each one differently.
I'm sure this game will be amazing, but please fix this, if not before launch then in the first patch. It's certainly an easy fix, every RPG has the ability.
And saying that it would cause issues for linking in the forums and Bungie account and xbox live or play station network... Just don't, we all know that isn't the case. Like an IP address, all characters link back to your gamertag, but each one is its own "person."
EDIT: As The Oz said in a below post
I agree. Even if it is just visible on MY system I would like the option of naming my characters.
. This is exactly what I mean, if everyone else online sees me all my characters as Faceliss Man that is fine, I don't care. I just want to be able to name them so it shows up in the menu and character screens, so they aren't simply "Awoken female Hunter level 9."
Please, see the light and give us the options RPG's are supposed to have.
Thanks,
Faceliss Man

Well with the PVE world being a blend of single and coop play, by using the same PSN id on all your characters, it makes identifying a player much easier. The game is suppose to be based around the chance for random encounters with other players. They may have been fun to play with but you don't necessarily add them to your play list. If they had different names for each character and you bump into them again, you wouldn't recognize them to possibly play with. On the opposite end, it helps identify people you want to avoid, no matter what character they play. Besides that, our characters have no real personality. There is no background for our characters. They are not roleplaying characters so PSN id work just fine. This is a shooter after all.
