Hey guys. So today I've been setting up my Command Center and I've run into a conundrum with regards to how I arrange my Consoles. I'd like to fit my Xbox 360, my Xbox One, and my PS4 onto a shelf which sits beneath my TV. However, there's only enough room on the shelf for two consoles horizontally. The only way forward is to stack one console on top of another, but I've never had to do this before during my years at College, so I have no experience with regards to understanding how well different consoles do with having things stacked above or below them.
I've listed several solutions above, and I'm curious to hear which of the seven you feel is the best. Personally I think 1) and 3) are terrible ideas because I think blocking the massive vent on the top of the Xbox One is ill advised at best. I don't know anything about the heating patterns of the PS4 because I've not used it for very long at all, but it seems like one of the better options is to stack it on top of something else.
I'm somewhat leaning towards 7) at the moment, as it would allow the PS4 to rest on the non-vent side of the Xbox One while being supported on the other side by the 360. This would only block one of the two vents on the top lateral side of the 360, which seems like it would have a minimal impact to the cooling system of the entire machine.
The shelf is made out of wire, so dispating heat from below should not be a problem. Any help provided is appreciated :)
Edit: Just realized I messed up Option 7, it should read "Straddle the PS4 across the Xbox One and 360. Damn it.
Edit 2: Most likely seeking a solution that does not involve stacking, thank you for convincing me that I was being stupid last night.

I have a space problem as well considering that I have five consoles. I bought two shoe organizers from Target that could stack together and stacked them together and placed it in front of the TV. Fits all my consoles, a Wii U that I'm planning on getting. Eventually. and space for two more items.

Since the biggest vents for the Xbox are on it's top, I'd avoid putting anything above them. Also the X1 is bigger than the PS4 I'd advise putting the X1 on the PS4. So I would go with putting the 360 on the PS4 as the PS4's vents are mainly in the back.

I always put my 360 on top of my PS4. The PS4 can also be placed on top of the other two desired consoles.
-
put 360 on top of ps4

Is this thread a hubble brag about you being rich? Is it Hyle?!
I say it's time to invest in a larger entertainment center.
Do you own a stool or other miscellaneous backless chair?
-
Stack 'em inside of a trash bin. Conveniently out of sight!
-
I put my ps2 slim on top of my ps4 when my little brother wanted to play some old games.

Buy another TV and put it in your bathroom. Move a console into there. Seems like a general victory in all campaigns.
Buy another shelf or risk overheating.
Secret option: Buy a stand with more shelves.
-
I had this problem when I had my Xbox 360, PS3, Cable Box and Xbox One. I ended up purchasing a new TV stand in the end.
-
Dont stack new consoles on top of each other
-
Did someone say stacking?
-
Force yourself into only using 2 consoles. Problem solved.
-
Don't stack them. You'll prevent airflow and then they'll overheat and explode, which will kill you with shrapnel.
-
Keep them away from all other electronics. Especially that 360. It's prone to overheat and get you a RROD. Keep them all where air can reach them easily. No cupboards or anything like that.
-
I presently have nowhere to put an Xbox One in my setup. =/ Whose idea was it to not let it stand upright? 'Only 20% of 360 owners stand it up. Nobody cares.' Well, having some -blam!-ing options for those of us with limited flat areas near the TV wouldn't -blam!-ing hurt.
-
There are some stands you can buy cheap so that you can place your consoles on them.

Are your consoles having sexy times or something?
-
I say go out to a goodwill or any thrift store near you & start looking for a good antique nightstand or shelf for like $30 & go from there :)
-
Can you remove a portion of the shelf to give enough vertical room to place all 3 consoles vertically? Are there any other areas in the shelf where you can put the consoles? Stacking is a bad idea, and placing all 3 in very close proximity also seems like it's not ideal.
-
I'd say put the 360 on top since (depending on your version) it would overheat the fastest. Otherwise, look at which ones line up horizontally, more fans means it can be below, and which you use the most (put that one on top depending on what the answers are to the other points).
-
Definitely xbox 360 between then both because the others have much better cooling systems than the 360. Though it's been 6 years no red ring they are still liable to do so
-
Sounds like a bad idea no matter how you stack them. Sounds like you're setting yourself up for overheating or one of your consoles falling over.

I have no idea, but I'm so je ll o. Your thumbs must have abs. Ha
