For a game with emphasis on magic/special abilities as a game changing mechanic
as well as different classes and "play your way" sorta stuff,
there seems to be a disturbing lack of #SpaceMagic and #MajorDifferencesBetweenClasses.
[Edit] like, the Warlock barely has any more magical power than the other classes.
you'd think a Warlock would actually be a Warlock, y'know? the only dude with magic.

thoughts?

I feel like the only magic the warlock uses is their Nova Bomb. It's a bit disappointing
-
All classes us space magic! The Warlock is just more of a studier than the others, their magic is used more as magic rather than abilities.
-
Yeah, there is few options of abilities for each class. I find it ok, altough there could be more variety. But no bro, I don't even magic.

Edited by Lord Fried: 7/5/2014 12:35:51 AMThis should be what we should ask other upcoming games "oh Battlefield, you have tanks and jets, but do you even magic?"

I'm cool with what they have. But honestly I wasn't expecting any over the top magic. Like summoning a meteor or raising your enemies from the dead. That would be too much.

Do you even scythe?

We dont yet know the extent of the other focuses in the game. There could be many more abilities that none of us are aware of. #commonsense

Edited by mc mackie: 7/4/2014 2:41:24 AMI wouldn't add more magic abilities to the warlock because there would have to be more abilities for all the class, and I think the fewer the ablities, more balanced is the game

I wish they all had a more supers, by what I've seen so far, each class will probably have 3 different supers each. I can say this by what we saw in the alpha. There are 3 known types of elemental damage fire, void, and arc. Each class in the alpha only showed 2 of these. So I bet there will be a 3rd for reach!
-
The warlock actually has a lot of skills in it's talent tree which shorten cooldowns so that you can send out more grenades and supers. Also I'm a huge fan of the gun play in this game, so I'm glad that the warlock still has to rely on that.
-
I was hoping the warlock would be obviously especially magical by comparison to the other classes but I was also expecting the warlock to be particularly vulnerable to damage to balance his face melting abilities. That doesn't seem to be the case however I still played a warlock in the alpha. I hope we at least get some sweet primary powers to choose from was pretty underwhelmed by the big slow lazy purple ball. I want lightning or damn molten lava at high velocity from the palm of my hand that has great range

Edited by Stygian Mole: 7/3/2014 7:09:45 AM
the Warlock barely has any more magical power than the other classes. you'd think a Warlock would have like a shorter magic use cool-down
If you want a shorter cool down on your super you will be able to boost your intellect stat through your focus leveling tree. Perhaps the Warlock can do this more than the other classes? Also, class specific armour may give greater bonuses to this stat.

The class isn't about abilities as much as it is about lifestyles. Warlocks study and gaze into the void. Hunters are loners and rogues that wander the wilderness. Titans were defenders of the wall to the last city.

Shining Force (genesis) sorcerer and wizard knew magic. everything else was meh.
-
Ja, I'm a magic person
-
Yes, I do magic, you should see my grixis control deck.

Looking at the warlock subclass, voidwalker, you can specialize in recharging your abilities and expanding the range and AoE. I think for a game that is basically an fps, the warlock class brings a sufficient amount of magic type destruction. We havent seen the firesinger class yet and i really dont know what to expect from the ingame the description.
-
I think its safe to say I do.
-
Always thought we would get at least one skill and a special. But the special is really the only skill. Look at the game shadowrun that's an fps. You could teleport, turn in to dust, drop healing trees amongst other stuff.
-
Warlock needs more AOE magic and call down spells. Other classes should focus on single chosen target spells.
-
If you are going off of what you saw in the alpha, that was, according to Bungie, "an ancient build" that has changed a lot before we even played the alpha. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

The traveler is the source of our "magic" or powers. Too many powers takes away from the shooter feel. Magic grenades, magic melee, magic super, and 3 different weapons to shoot. Plenty of magic, and there are confirmed 2 subclasses with a rumor of a third.
