I guess it is easier to hate that which you don't know or don't know well enough than it is to see through the red haze and find out what you share - not the least of which is gaming. However that is only my opinion, I know some find it exciting or 'popular' to get someone to feel antagonized, instigated or hurt, not much to do there, except hope when it happens to them themselves, they will learn differently.
