As someone who lives in the deep South, I'm having trouble deciding between mosquitoes and gnats. I'm gonna go with gnats because they're arguably more irritating and I can think of absolutely zero reasons for their existence.

Mosquitoes are worse than gnats. At least you can wear sunglasses to counter gnats; nothing short of freaking body armor will stop mosquitoes.
